One more Keralite dies of coronavirus in Dubai

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 12 (IANS): A 41-year-old Keralite, on Sunday, became the third victim of coronavirus in Dubai, taking the total deaths of Keralites in the Middle East to 5.

The youth who died was in a private hospital for the past one week. He hails from Thalassery in Kannur district.

Two Keralites have been reported to have died in Saudi Arabia, after the pandemic broke out across the globe.

Middle East countries like Kuwait, Oman and Qatar have also reported several positive cases.

On Saturday, a high level medical team with supplies landed in Kuwait.

These deaths in the Middle East have taken place, when there have been numerous demands, from Kerala including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other political leaders, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that all those Keralites who wish to return be brought back in special flights.

In case the Centre operates special flights to bring back Keralites, the state health authorities have earmarked places where such people can be kept in isolation.

On Sunday, a 73-year-old doctor who hails from Kottayam has been reported to have died in Birmingham in the UK, taking the total number of deaths of Keralites in the UK to six.

The maximum deaths of Keralites have been reported in the US besides the UK and the Middle East, taking the total to 34.

    Kasaragod reported 0 case of COVID today, whole Kerala reported just 2.

    Primarily only 2 of the 4 taluks of Kasaragod district goes to neighbouring district of Dakshina Kannada for medical facilities. So, It is incorrect to say there are no medical facilities in entire Kerala. It should be noted that nearly 40 percent of Covid cases are cured in Kerala and the person dead stands at just 2.

    Please tell me - if Karnataka decided to send it's sick from Thokkottu, for treatment in Kerala, will the state permit ? Won't Kerala ask Karnataka to build hospitals to treat it's people ? Similarly, you Kasargod people, being part of Kerala, must demand to be treated in Kerala, not flock to Karnataka. Whom your taxes are going to ? Kerala, or Karnataka ? Then, why can't you question denial of your rights ?

    Now, being resident of Manjeshwar, can you please check and tell me if you guys are permitted to travel beyond Kannur for treatment ? Just to clear of what I have heard. Nothing else.

    People of Mangalore being terribly irritated by the behaviour of some people from across the state is perfectly understandable. Many a times these people are a nuisance. That apart, even ambulances are misused.. But, there are also Cardiac, Cancer, Kidney and other patients who require regular follow up, Chemotherapy, Dialysis, as the case may be. So, such non covid patients should have been allowed to enter. Kannur is closed, yes, but not for ambulances and emergencies. NH 66 is open for emergencies.

    I wanted to hear just this, nothing more.

    Now, get Kerala to open Kannur for all services (including Corona) to Kasargod people. Once you manage that, you question your right to access Mangalore for any (repeat, any) medical assistance. We Mangaloreans are generous yes, but not at the risk of putting ourselves in the hands of CORONA because of you Kasargod people who don't know to fight for your rights from your own CM.

    mate, the current corona situation in kerala is managed way better than any other states in India... the number of active cases have dropped significantly... In terms of total positive cases, Kerala stands number 10 now from number 11.

    Mt. Deshbalth, for your kind information all corona serious patients are taken to Kannur from Kasaragod and it will be done in future as well , when needed.
    Just don’t speak without data.
    For others, Regarding paying tax and why government not providing service, kerala has best government health care service , Which is free for the needy and middle class or higher up used to go to private hospitals and not wenlock, so your question isn’t relevant here at all. If gadi nadu kannadigha’s itself isn’t allowed what’s the point of opening hospitals buddy? Is it business, not an essential service ?

    If u say that Kerala has the government hospitals then I would disagree with u as I have visited kasargod government hospital peadiatric wards and it is the last place our children would go to.... 0 hygiene, congested... Feel sorry for them as they r the most vulnerable population. Compare it to Mangalore wenlock Infosys and u will see the difference... And if u people have very good facilities, then y do the residents from kasargod visit Mangalore for super speciality treatment??? U ppl dont want to pressurise ur government instead want the neighbouring district to open borders.... Y don't u have a super speciality hospital in kasargod... Ur government has all the time to repeatedly knock the doors of supreme court and PM but does not have the courtesy to attend to the medical needs of its patients and refer them to kannur...

    As you say Kerala has good medical facilities, then why we see hundreds of people visiting Mangalore for medical treatment. There is a daily passenger train whichruns from Kannur to Mangalore, fully loaded.

    When the state is one in the County that has maximum of it's people abroad, obviously the percentage of fatalities too will be maximum. The state pushes the sick existing in the country, for treatment to neighbouring states. How generous is it in requesting to get it's people from abroad ?

    You've built highest number of airports to send them out but you don't have sufficient hospitals to treat them.
