Bengaluru, Apr 14 (IANS): Karnataka reported two Covid-19 deaths on Monday, an official said here. The death toll in the state has now reached eight. 

"A 65-year-old male patient from Bengaluru was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases on Sunday. He died on Monday," a health official told IANS.

He said the man had tested positive for Covid-19.

Health and family welfare department authorities said that he was a case of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) a couple of days ago. While the man breathed his last in the morning, his test results came out late in the evening.

Earlier on Monday, a 55-year-old man from Kalaburagi with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) died of Covid-19, registering the state's seventh such death.

"A 55-year-old man from Kalaburagi with SARI passed away from coronavirus," a health official said.

He was designated as the 205th Covid-19 positive case in the state.

The man was suffering from severe acute respiratory infection and tested positive on April 10 and was infected by a neighbour who had come back from Delhi. He died at ESI hospital, Kalaburagi where he was being treated.
