Udupi, Apr 15: In a shocking setback, coronavirus symptoms reappeared in the third coronavirus-positive patient in Udupi, informed Udupi district health officer (DHO) Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda on Tuesday, April 14.

“Two coronavirus patients were discharged on April 11 and 14. But, the 29-year-old patient tested positive in the second test on Tuesday. His throat swab sample had been sent to lab. Today, the result came positive for the second time.

“On March 29, he had tested positive and was admitted to Udupi district hospital. Then he was treated at Dr TMA Pai hospital. He completed his first quarantine period that is 12 days in Udupi hospital. Hence, the treatment will be continued for next 14 days at Dr TMA Pai hospital based on the positive test result. If the same person is tested negative, he will be discharged in two days,” said the DHO.

While observing the patient’s travel history, he had travelled to Kerala. The 29-year-old, who works as an electrician, has no recent history of international travel. He had been to Thiruvananthapuram on work along with a team of 31 electricians. He and others were admitted to Udupi government hospital on March 26 with fever, cough and other symptoms.
