Mangaluru, Apr 15: In the light of the fact that a resident of Thokkottu, who had taken part in the Tablighi religious convention held at Nizamuddin Markaz New Delhi was identified with coronavirus infection on April 4, 105 persons living in the neighbourhood of Chembugudde mosque underwent coronavirus test under the leadership of former minister U T Khader on Tuesday, April 14. Throat swab samples of the people were collected inside the compound of the said mosque.

The MLA inspired the people to undergo this test by subjecting himself to the test.

The said Thokkottu resident, after returning from Delhi had performed the Friday Jumma at the mosque. After he tested positive, the health department had suggested to the Jamaat Committee to organize the coronavirus test. The information about the test was also given through the loudspeakers of the mosque. Samples of 105 persons including Khader were sent for testing.

Taluk medical officer Dr Sujay, maintenance officer Dr Jagadeesh, district Malaria officer Dr Naveen, microbiologist Veena Jayaram, Ullal government hospital lab technician Divya and Natekal primary health centre lab technician Jaleel, took part in the camp.

In addition to Khader, head of Kanachur group of institutions, Kanachur Monu, M D Rahman, Chembugudde mosque president Hanneef, secretary Abdul Salam, members Sajad, Rizwan and others were present.
