Lockdown day 24: DK corona tally up by 1, three more discharged, no new cases in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 17: One tested positive in Dakshina Kannada (DK) for coronavirus on Friday, April 17. Three more who were completely cured of coronavirus were discharged today. No positive cases were reported in Udupi.

The three discharged are a 63-year-old woman who came from Dubai, and two men aged 43 and 52, who had attended the Delhi Nizamuddin event.

The lone patient who tested positive today is a 39-year-old man from Uppinangady who had come from Delhi. He had been quarantined for 14 days on April 1. His first test conducted on April 2 proved to be negative. During the tests on second sample sent on April 13, the result showed that he has coronavirus infection. He happens to be the 13th patient of the district.

As per statistics, in Dakshina Kannada, a total of 39,080 persons have been screened so far, out of whom 588 are currently under home quarantine.

No patient has been quarantined in Wenlock hospital, while 10 have been quarantined in ESI hospital on April 17. Fifteen were discharged from ESI hospital today.

As many as 5,485 persons have completed 28 days of home quarantine, with no symptoms reported.

Out of the 714 samples sent so far, 700 have tested negative, and a total of 13 tested positive, out of which one is currently active, and 12 have been discharged.

On Friday, reports of 90 samples were received, all of which were negative. Another 32 samples have been sent to the lab in Wenlock hospital on Friday.

Report of one sample is awaited. Twenty-eight people are currently admitted for observation.

In Udupi, as on April 17, a total of 1,646 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, with 167 completing the period on April 17. Another 2,061 people have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 11 on April 17.

As many as 335 people are currently under home quarantine, and 33 are in quarantine in hospital. Two people were placed under hospital quarantine on Friday.

Eight coronavirus related patients were discharged from hospital on Friday. A total of 204 have been discharged from the wards till now.

A total of 839 samples have been collected, with 18 fresh ones on Friday.

Out of the samples tested so far, 634 have tested negative. Reports of another 202 samples are awaited.

Udupi district has so far reported three coronavirus-positive cases, among whom two were discharged from hospital on April 11 and 14.

Kasargod

No cases were reported from Kasargod. Fifty-five coronavirus-positive patients are still active in Kasargod.

    Please set up testing facility at Udupi at earliest. Karnataka has a backlog of over 1400 samples. If an outbreak happens we will be waiting weeks for test results.
