Centre's guidelines on lockdown extended by two days in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Apr 20: State chief secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar, has, through an order, extended the period of following guidelines issued by the union home ministry relating to lockdown by two days. Therefore, lockdown relaxations will come into effect in Karnataka from Wednesday onward.

The current rules enforced by the central government relating to lockdown are in force till Monday April 20. This period stands extended to Tuesday midnight. Further decisions will be taken at the cabinet meeting scheduled today. After the meeting takes certain decisions, order relating to guidelines need to be issued. As these procedures will take about a day, the period of sticking to central guidelines has been extended.

The order has instructed deputy commissioners, superintendents of police and all the government departments to continue to fall in line with central government guidelines till Tuesday. As the central guidelines will apply till Tuesday midnight, the cabinet meeting decisions will come into force from Wednesday.

The state government has already decided to show certain relaxations over sticking to lockdown rules. The relaxations mainly relate to allowing economic activities to begin again. Sources said that the new guidelines that the state might frame will come into force from Wednesday.
