Delhi paper merchants not to open establishments for now

New Delhi, Apr 25 (IANS): With the Union Home Ministry issuing orders to all state governments to allow opening of shops within the territory limits of Municipal Corporation or Municipality, Delhi's paper merchants association and stationery supplies store owners are cautious.

They said the Delhi government has not issued any notification in this regard so far.

Delhi Paper Merchants Association's secretary Piyush Jain said, "Do not act upon the Union Home Ministry's notification issued on April 24 to open standalone shops in green zones. Wait for the Delhi government to issue an order based on MHA's notification."

All paper merchants have been made aware of the Association's decision, particularly in Chawdi Bazar which is the biggest market of paper in Delhi.

The traders have decided not to open shops at least for now.

"We are waiting for an order from the Delhi government. All traders will be duly informed about the changes in rules in operationalization of shops, stores and business establishments," Jain added.
