Mangalore: Mega Bible Exhibition Inaugurated at Milagres College Grounds

Mangalore, Dec 30: The five-day mega Bible exhibition as part of year long celebrations of `Year of convention of the faithful’ in Mangalore diocese was inaugurated on Wednesday, December 30, by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza at Milagres Junior College Grounds in city.
The celebration of `Year of Convention of the faithful’ began from January 4 last and will conclude on Sunday January 3, 2010. The mega Bible exhibition as part of the yearlong celebration comprises around 40 stalls with the display of Bibles in nearly 50 languages and 250 versions. Along with copies of Holy Bibles, Bible depicted through art is also on display. Stall on video presentation of Bible and Bible verses are sure to attract visitors.
The year of the convention of the faithful is a celebration of the faith of the Catholic Christians of the diocese of Mangalore following such celebrations at the state, national and Asia level in the past years. Throughout the year each month was dedicated to a different category of people with related themes.
Highlights of Exhibition
The smallest Bible, mega Bible map displaying different Bible places on 400 square feet extension, black mud of the dead sea, fruits from the sycamore tree climbed by Zacchaeus and other articles from the Holy Land, Live show of cribs and 25 Bible women like Sara and Ruth among others, Biblical information through more than 500 wall-pictures and thermocol designs, Bible puppet shows, dances, band, songs, acting and skits, more than 50 colourful comic titles on Biblical personalities and events, Bible films, documentaries, slides, clippings and power point presentations on jumbo LCD, creation, parables, miracles, transfiguration, death and resurrection of Jesus through shadow plays, animations, mobile pictures and sound and light effects, kings, prophets, parables, miracles, teachings and mysteries through artistic presentations, mega Bible tree and Christmas tree are some of the highlights of the exhibition.
Vicar Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu and Fr Basil Vas, convenor of the exhibition, secretary Sr Shalini were present on the occasion of inaugural.
Apostolic Carmel, Ursulines, Charity, Bethany, SRA, Roshni Nilaya and Pauline Congregations of religious women; Capuchins, Carmelites, Jesuits, Dominicans and Diocesan priests, ICYM, YCS, DCCW, AICUF, Jesus Youth, Mangala Jyothi, Canara Communication Centre, Jeppu Seminary, Milagres Junior College, Padua Junior College, Fr Muller’s Hospital, Raknno, Pietro, Orchid Art Gallery and many other lay and religious units have joined hands to conduct the exhibition.
