Karkala: Environment lovers launch campaign against Hebri RFO transfer

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, May 8: Nature lovers have launched an email and phone call campaign, urging the government to cancel the transfer orders of Hebri range forest officer (RFO) Muniraju. National Environment Care Federation (NECF) members from Mangaluru called forest minister Anand Singh, and other senior officers of the forest department over phone on Thursday to voice their anger against the transfer of an honest and efficient officer.

Speaking on behalf of NECF, Shashidhar Shetty said that Muniraju had made sincere efforts to stop encroachment of forest land, smuggling of timber and hunting of animals. "He had exposed several irregularities. Wilting under pressure, such an able officer has been transferred all of a sudden. We condemn this action," he said.

Shashidhar stated that during his 17 years of service, Muniraju has been transferred 17 times. "Efforts are being made to obstruct such officers from doing their work diligently through frequent transfers. Therefore there is a need to pool public opinion against Muniraju's transfer. It is the duty of conscious citizens to stoically back officers who work to conserve environment," he insisted.

He said that NECF has initially begun campaign through emails and phone calls. He said that later, letters will be addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and union home minister Amit Shah, seeking to quash the said transfer.

Yes, it is the duty of conscious citizens to stoically back officers who work to conserve environment. Please, this includes when MLAs jump from party to party accepting crores and re-contest at the expense of taxpayers money.
Voters should protest saying we elected them for the full term and to make money by resigning. We won't protest as we are intoxicated by blind belief of supporting a political party, irrespective of the number of criminal cases on has.

The people should certainly take up the cudgels for honest officers if they want this country to be saved. Everything possible should be done to bring back Mr. Muniraju in order to thwart the nefarious designs of the timber mafia. I congratulate Mr. Shashidhar Shetty for spearheading this movement. He needs the support of all the people. Everyone should pull their weight in order to bring back this honest officer. It is in the interest of the county. There should be a mass movement. Then, and only then, will the government feel the heat.

What happened to Priyanka Francis, Koralapatti, Nisha James, and those before them. These people fought against the sand mafia and were threatened . And now Muniraju. But they arrested the people. Once they were transferred Sand became free for all and now wood smuggling. Do you blame the local MLA or the MP. Everybody is clean in their pant , shirts, and sarees except heart and spirit
