Mangaluru, May 8: Over 700 migrant workers gathered at Mangaluru Central Railway Station after rumours of train services restarting became viral on Friday, May 8.

Hundreds of migrants living in Derebail, Suratkal, Nantoor, Kulur and other places, queued outside the station entrance hoping to reach their hometown. The migrant workers hail from Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.

The migrants arrived on foot to the station after a social media on the same went viral.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and Pandeshwar police had a tough time managing the crowd. An argument also ensued between the police and the migrant workers. The police went ahead to arrest one of the workers which led to arguments and tension for a brief period of time.

The workers were holding placards ‘We Want to Go Home’. Assistant commissioner Madan Mohan tried to persuade the labourers to return and assured to make all arrangements for them until train services are arranged, but in vain.

Soon after, police commissioner Dr P S Harsha arrived to the spot and convinced the workers to withdraw the protest. He assured them of getting all the arrangements of their travel back home done in three days. The workers urged the police commissioner to make the arrangements in two days and withdrew the protest.

The workers were then sent back to their places in Derebail, Surtahkal, KPT, Nanthur and Kulur by KSRTC buses.

They don't need PhD in English literature to write that much. Desperation made them write. Hunger and dejection made them gather there. Hope you are aware of your fellow beings who are struct in Gulf and other countries who wants to come back. They are also going through the same emotions. Even if they don't know to write. Any human would help them to express their plight. Finding religion and politics in this time can be fit only those so called "Deshbhakths".

India has never experienced, such chaos, fear, anxiety, distress, since 72 years, of our independence.. Hope n pray that we will succeed in overcoming this Covid19 plague Migrants are today physiological distressed, they just want to escape this cursed disease n flee back to their villages, in different states of our nation.. Today a horrible tragedy near Aurangabad, in Maharashtra, claimed 17 migrants lives... they were trekking their way home on foot, when they wer run over by a train..... I appeal to all states, kindly make provisions for transport, whereby these migrants will be reunited with their families !!!

Migrants everywhere, whether within India to other cities and towns than their own, or to foreign countries, especially the Middle East and North America follow where they can find work as their own native places do not provide enough, and thus contribute to the host countries. However, when times are bad they bolt and want to go back; hope they will find work back home and remain there for good so that the unemployed people who they have displaced when times were good can get the jobs back.

Messages which pour in to our PM from God sometime hamper in between due to interception of missiles either in Saudi-Yemen, Syria-Alqaeda-America-Turkey, or in between Isarel-Hamas. If frequency of incoming is clear..he can take decision immediately..like..bahiyo bahano..aaj raat aat baje se sabhie dukhane bandh kar di jayeege. Humhe aapke sahkar ke aatanta avaskyat hai.

Unfortunately, our PM first decides, declares and implements before thinking about the consequences of his decision. This has happened consistently be it Demonetisation, GST, LOCKDOWN, etc. From November to January COVID 19 was not thought of in India. Suddenly in March decisions threw the entire nation out of gear. It is pathetic to see the poor people who are suffering immensely because of such lack of prudent decisions. God save us.

    Everything is chaotic.
We expect our NRI's/overseas employees to be treated well with humanity and there shouldn't be human rights violations. Our expectations are legitimate.
But what we do with our own migrant workers? They too shouldn't treated like bonded laborers. It will impact their health, family and work performance. It will have impact to the society as well. Why are they traumatized?
If their going is problem for us and we really want them, we should have good retaining policy. We should make them feel comfortable.

    Vicky,
At least now open your eyes and stop being a blind bhakth. If BJP Government had planned to transport these laborers before announcing lock down they would never have been put to such in human and cruel situation. They would pay for their travel home and would have been with their family for better or for worse. Now just see their plight. Don't you have sensitivity to human pain and misery caused by unplanned announcement of lock down? The same tragedy took place during demonetization as well. We all make mistakes but its only proud fools who do not learn from the mistakes.

I had to travel 170 kms n was very very sick and a female... I stood on a high way asking for a lift ... Risking my life with fear because i wanted to go home and get my self treated. Finally a good samiritan stopped his car and I reached home ... Only wen we experience we understand ... God the almighty was gracious to me and I was in safe hands and he ended up being a far relative ... And these migrant workers r in the same phase that I was in... Don't drag politics... For many years in Punjab congress cannot able to rule due to Sant Longowal's Akali Dal was strong. To tackle that government she given support to Khalistan movement led by Sant Bindarwale. It reminds me of Syria. Treatment of these migration workers as animals by this government will take us back to the history. When we got the independence and partition was done people migrated to and from Pakistan and there is similarity.

Why this government is not sensitive? Lockdown was announced without any plans for these people, No plan to provide food to them and now no proper plan to transport them.

Nobody there to assure them and they are fighting for survival. Leader has vanished in the dark and only comes when he want to conduct nonsense events. This country is now leaderless.

We all need to take care of these people near us. Let us do our bit and help them.

Please at least stick to your home town and do odd jobs to improve your village/city. It's become big task for government to find out exactly during census whether person is belonging to same city or carrying fake identity.
If anybody entering new to village/city easily identifiable. Family people will be happy..government will be happy...and oneself will be happy. Otherwise land in western countries look for gora mem..for green card.
