Kundapur: Act of humanity - Vittal Shetty has been feeding birds, animals for 12 years

Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (EP)

Kundapur, May 15: Vittal Shetty, a vivid animal and bird lover hailing from Kumbashi had been feeding monkeys and crows around Anegudde temple premises for the past 12 years. He is hailed as an inspiration and draws attention of many fauna lovers for his humane service.

In the course of feeding the monkeys for the past 12 long years, he has developed a kind of rapport with the animals. Similarly, he has been feeding the crows as well and believes his work to be a noble act of humanity.

Few days ago due to the lockdown, there was increased problems for the birds to find food, therefore he had intensified his work to ensure the birds do not starve.

Shetty had always been an animal over and would shell out a good amount in monetary terms to purchase food for the animals and birds. After his retirement, he had been able to devote maximum time towards feeding the birds and monkeys.

Twelve years ago, Shetty noticed several monkeys and birds around Vinay temple desperately seeking for food and that is when he began his noble work. He would purchase edible items such as bread, biscuits, ground nuts, cold drinks, bananas and feed them all equally. He said that there is a considerable decrease in the number of monkeys in recent days.

He would always ensure the monkeys were fed even in his absence and therefore, recently, when he had gone abroad for a month, he had requested his friend to feed the monkeys until he returned. People in his locality appreciate his dedicated humanity service towards the birds and animals.

    Dear Mr. Shetty,
you seem to be a very kind natured person, your compassion towards animals is laudable. There has never been a better time in man kind’s history to be respectful to our ecosystem now than it has ever been. Tampering with the Coronavirus has brought us miseries that more than we can handle.
Both wild and stray animals harbor a variety of parasites on and inside their bodies such as ticks, mites, fleas, and worms. Some of these parasites are detrimental to our health as they infest people and pets, an example of which is murine typhus and plague, of course now it is Covid-19.
Crows, In particular, are omnivores. Crows eat small animals such as mammals, amphibians, reptiles, eggs, and carrion. They also eat insects, seeds, grains, nuts, fruit, non-insect arthropods, mollusks, worms, and even other birds. Crows have also been noted eating garbage and store food in caches, short-term, in trees or on the ground, according to the ADW.
A crow family can eat 40,000 grubs, caterpillars, armyworms and other insects in one nesting season. That’s a lot of insects many gardeners and farmers consider pests. These good environmental citizens also transport and store seeds, thus contributing to forest renewal. And their habit of eating carrion makes them part of nature’s cleanup crew (National Geographic). What better friend a farmer can have in a crow? They have proved themselves to be self-sufficient, why feed them???????
Nature and ecosystem in nature are in perfect harmony where every living and the nonliving thing has a role to play in making the ecosystem and environment work perfectly so that all animals, plants, microorganisms, and non living things can coexist creating a perfect balance among them. We, the humans have caused several imbalances in the nature for several thousands of years and now, it is the time we turned around and fixed some of the negative impacts on the globe. The system that exists in Mother Nature is designed for all species.

Vittallanna.... God bless your work. I too feed the dogs on the road.... birds in the compound... Ah. ..lovely feeling.. .actually, once when they come to know who You are then certainly don't demand food from you.... just look forward your arrival... they need some conversation, attention... One old dog only complains about something... He doesn't eat food. His food someone else is eating... I have seen on my way two more people feed the animals with rice and fish...one poor person gives egg. One migrant worker everyday gives bread to the dogs of her lane... There are so many lovely stories of these animals... Really brings peace to mind. Given name to all according to their behaviour... 😆😆😆😆 so cute...

Salute to a noble hero. Thanks to Daijiworld for bringing us inspiration. We should at least leave an old bucket of water for birds and animals.
