Karnataka Ratna for Heggade, De Ja Gow

Bangalore, Jan 13 (DHNS ): The State Government has selected litterateur De Javaregowda and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade for Karnataka Ratna title for the years 2008 and 2009 respectively. 

Karnataka Ratna is the highest civilian honour of the state. The committee headed by justice V S Malimath selected the awardees.

Javaregowda is a well known name in the field of literature. He has translated works of Tolstoy into Kannada and penned many works in Kannada. He served as vice-chancellor of Mysore University and was instrumental in setting up department of folk sstudies.

Veerendra Heggade as head of Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education Institutes has been providing quality education to thousands of children across the state. He also launched a chain of rural development schemes. The government has not announced the date for conferring the title.

    I always admired the attitude of Dharmadhikari Dr.Veerendra Heggade towards mankind. Gentle, smiling and benevolent for any good cause Dr.Heggade`s contribution to rural development and quality education is tremendous. He certainly deserves the award Karnataka Ratna, and who knows it will be followed by Bharat Ratna.

    it is a great honour not only to mr heggade but for the entire community.i have been a student of SDM and i admire him a lot. i have seen him personally involving himself even for smaller things with care.i once again congratulate and wish him all the best for his future endeavours

    Besides these services, you are kind and gentle human being, helping needy people. I have visited Dharmastala so many times and one memorable instance was of your anger over a influence by a student,who brought a letter from MLA of Bangalore dist is fantastic.What you advised to the student on that time is relevent for all time.Sir, I salute for your yomen service to the mankind. I will pray let almighty give you health to continue in your mission for many more years.
