Mangalore: Demand for Lecturer’s Transfer – MCJ Students End Stir
Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jan 26: The mass communication and journalism students in the University, who are on a warpath against the University’s refusal to meet their demand for transferring one of their lecturers, Umeshchandra, have called off their strike.

The decision to end strike was taken at the behest of the local MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, who told them that he has held discussions with the in-charge vice chancellor of the university about the possibility of deploying the lecturer for tasks other than teaching in MCJ department. They however, warned that they will launch hunger strike again on Wednesday, if their demands were not met. The University reportedly, has sent a report on the issue to the department of higher education.

A special meeting of the university syndicate is being convened on January 27 to discuss the issue. The MP and leaders of the agitating students are likely to be invited for the meeting, it is learnt.

The decision by the VC is entirely wrong and it shows VCs view. Immediately the VC and other supporting faculty member must be removed from the mangalore university to any other. The pakka rowdy of MCJs should be debarred.

There are mixed coments on MP's dress code. MP is representing an entire district, he has to be a role model for all. He is not belongs to any party or community he is a people's representative. He should wear a decent dress. You can give an example of Mr.Yediyurappa, Mr. VS Achar, Mr.Palemar, Mr.Bhat, Mr.Sadananda Gowda so on leaders wear decent dress. MP is wearing like ladies dress or a teanage boys type, surprise to see not a single students in the above photographs can see wearing a colorful dress. He is not an educated man but atleast he should learn seeing from others.

Instead of making childish comments on his dress, first of all let us support the good intention and initiative taken by our young MP. Apparently there is a serious problem in which no other leaders want to involve for some reason. Mr. Nalin is setting good example to other local politicians and leaders. Let us support his good work rather than commenting petty items.

Just with the MPs assurance the students are willing to withdraw their strike shows bajrang dals hand...why didnt the students withdraw their strike when incharge VC K K Achar requested to suspend the agitation till the syndicate members of the university take a decision....there is something fishy about this whole issue

It is amusing to see someone hasn't cleared SSLC, now promising the transfer of a lecturer teaching PG in the university. This can happen only here! By the way, he hasn't come to solve the problem but to stoke the fire more out of sympathy for the ABVP who humiliated the professor and started the so-called agitation in the first place

I don't see anything wrong with his dress. He is fully and traditionally dressed and that, I feel, is enough. He doesn't need to wear a suit to prove his worth and appear "decent."

I am with you Dyson. Even though I dont like BJP (except Nalini for his good works), there is nothing wrong in Nalini's dress. Some people are turning towards our dear Nagesh Nayak's attitude while commenting.

Dear friends, We need to rise above discussing petty issues such as dressing up and other stuff and comment more on the deeds initiated by these politicians. We live in a democratic country and we have the right to dress up any way we want. If one is proud about flaunting one's own heritage, I don't see why Nalin Kateel should not be wearing what he is proud of. We should not stereotype people based on visual evidence rather comment on their actual work. If he were representing India at some international event at some international location, then his dressing sense could have been debated. But this is our own backyard. Hope I have made my point. Cheers!!!

Dont judge the person by his dress. People of Mangalore are not so dumb to elect a leader without knowing his capacity. Judge the person by his ability and we are sure Nalin will prove all his critics wrong.(He can also learn english the way Deve Gowda learnt Hindi)
