Mangalore: Inaugural of Renovated St Anthony Jacobite Syrian Church on Jan 30

Mangalore, Jan 29: The renovated St Anthony Jacobite Syrian Church, located at Marnamikatte, will be inaugurated on Saturday January 30.  The annual feast will be held on Sunday January 31. 

His Beatitude Baselios Thomas 1 Catholicos of the East, Ernakulam, India, will preside over the inaugural ceremony at 5.30 pm on Saturday.

Oscar Fernandes, former union minister and AICC general secretary, will inaugurate and deliver the inaugural address.

Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, will be the chief guest who will release the souvenir.












CSI Bishop Dr J S Sadanand of Karnataka southern diocese will release the parish directory.

DK district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, Bishop Gee Varghese Mor Polycarpose of B A E and Honnavar Mission, Bishop Joseph Mor Gregonos of Cochin diocese and Synod secretary, Bishop Mathews Mor Ivanios of Kandanad diocese, Assistant Bishop Mathews Mor Aprem of Angamali diocese, Assistant Bishop Grace Yacob Mor Anthonios of Honnavar Mission, Karnataka, Mangalore Catholic diocese vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, MLAs Yogish Bhat and U T Khader, as well as former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake will be the guests of honour.  

The second stage of consecration will be held at 8.30 am on Sunday after the prayer service which will begin at 8.00 am. 

His Beatitude Baselios Thomas will consecrate the altar and precinct, followed by Eucharistic Celebration with five Bishops and laity. The community lunch will be held after 1.00 pm.

Earlier, assistant Bishop Yacob Mor Athonios of Honnavar Mission, Karnataka, blessed the Holy Cross at the church on Friday January 29. 

He also hoisted the flag and community prayers as well as devotional singing were held on the occasion.

Fr Ebi Elanganamattam, Kerala, delivered a homily on the Holy Scriptures to a large gathering of devotees including parish council joint secretary Thomas A I, secretary A C Jayaraj, treasurer Saliba Mathew, and vicar Fr Sunny John at the church.

    Congratulations to the parishn~rs of st antonys jacobite church . i can recall being a member of this church when fr pallichara was the parish priest, after which the church was under dispute and closed for a very long time. it is nice to see the church renovated and open . daiji.com great ! getting Mangalore all over the world

Also let us pray to Him that this renovated church would help thousands to come closer to our Saviour Jesus Christ & attain Eterenity by leading a faithful christian life.
