Kalaburagi: Stones pelted at corona warriors, ambulance, police vehicle damaged

Daijiworld Media Network - Kalaburagi (SP)

Kalaburagi, Jun 16: The district again witnessed an incident of stone pelting at corona warriors on Monday June 15. Even as the memory of attack on ASHA workers in Chittapur taluk is fresh in the memory of the people, another such incident happened in Kamalapur taluk of the district on Monday.

The attack was aimed at doctors, ASHA workers, and health department staff. It is learnt that a police vehicle, ambulance, and two other vehicles were damaged in the incident.

As many as 14 among the migrants who returned to their hometowns from Mumbai have tested positive for coronavirus. As such, the health department staff, accompanied by some policemen, had visited the Tanda where they reside on Monday.
At that time, residents of the Tanda unexpectedly started to throw stones at the government vehicles, it is said. In the stone pelting, windshields of the police vehicle, an ambulance, and vehicles used by the health department employees, were shttered. Some of the doctors, ASHA workers, health department employees and police personnel suffered minor injuries in the stone throwing incident, it is being claimed.

When police personnel visited the spot, an attempt also was reportedly made to attack them too. Senior police officials visited the spot and scrutinized the situation.

Deputy commissioner of the district, Sharat B, has expressed strong resentment at the development. He has warned that such incidents will not be tolerated and those who attacked corona warriors will be dealt with sternly. Recalling that such an incident had happened in the district sometime back, he said that those behind this act will face strong measures. He reassured the corona warriors that the district administration is committed to extend protection to them.

This is similar incident to the Madhya Pradesh were health workers came middle of the night asking the young girls to picked for testing from the minority community resulting in stone pelting. The incident was later blown out of proportion by the paid mass media blaming the community for the pandemic.

Now another repetition of the incident from the people who are feed up with more than two months lock down and still there is no exist strategy.

Today this anger is against the health workers. I presume the next it will be 'food riots' with no jobs with increasing number of citizens are starving and struggling to get decent meal.

I am sorry to say that you don’t know what they have gone through. The atrocities committed against a particular community by the officials and policemen in the name of corona virus are so painful that it is natural that they react and revolt against the injustice committed by the so called health officials .

Sad incident, but extremely irresponsible behavior by local people. Perhaps they are uneducated and do not know more about this deadly virus. Pathetic act, Govt and cops should take stringent action immediately

All this because, there is no law to control population. Some people give birth to dozens of children. And for them it is not possible to provide education to all. So these uneducated people do these kind of acts.

Really a shameful act by irresponsible and illiterate people. Law should take stern action immediately rather than saying we will not tolerate such acts. Actions of police force must speak. Put the hooligans behind bar and torture them the same way they did to Corona warriors. Pelt them with stones in a closed room. Then they will understand. With these kind of people who are hell bent on spreading the disease I don't think India cam make much sucess in controlling this pandemic. The state government need to act if they need to be in power.

This is just a reaction against the injustice done specifically to a particular community in the name of corona. You have not experienced anything what they have undergone .

Lack of knowledge led to the attack on Officials which should be stopped immediately through the local administration by providing basic education on the Pandemic. The issue is here that people are frustrated with financial issues. Govt should release that 20000000000 Crore lacks to bring some confidence in the VOTERS.

The financial issue what you say not restricted to kalburgi? Then why such incidents r not happening other cities? It is very clear that all such stone pelting happens only where peace loving ppl reside. Just shoot at sight order to be given and once one or two r shot at whole problem will be solved
