Mangalore, Feb 15: In an accident between a tanker lorry and an Omni car at Adyar on the national highway, a patient returning from hospital had to go back to hospital after the car was damaged on Monday February 15.

The Omni car had four members of a family of whom one was a patient who had been discharged from a private hospital in the city.

The driver of the tanker Channakeshava was drunk as was his companion Veera.  The impact of the accident led to the car overturning. All the passengers were admitted to a hospital with injuries.

The locals said that the tanker was being driven in a rash manner and the driver almost lost control of his vehicle.

Local residents helped the police by capturing the tanker driver and conductor. Mangalore Rural Police registered a case.

We elect our representatives to run the country in best way. In dubai If vehicle is not fit for road the authority will ban the vehicle , if anyone cought drunk driving his vehicle is kept in police custody. if anyone caught with mobile conversation during driving they are punished by black points. but in India most of the politicians/police are corrupt so you can do anything paying pity bribe. This is the reason the culprints will easily escape from these crimes

It is told that because of over working, few drivers could not cope with the pressure so they always take alcohol while driving. Some gets addicted to it and take more & more and they loose control on the vehicle they are driving. There are cases where the drivers cannot see properly few have heart disease etc. still they do their job to earn for living but by putting commuter at risk. There should be check post at strategic points to check the physical & mental condition of the driver but the RTO should be honest.

It is sad to see such accidents, plight of victims & relatives. Young lives are lost, families shattered. Before one blames authorities, one should pledge to follow traffic rules, lane discipline, avoid road rage, keep vehicles in good condition, avoid drunken driving! (and this is no moral policing!)
