I think I can help: Oscar willing to play for China

Shanghai, Jul 27 (IANS): Brazillian footballer Oscar is open to changing his allegiance to China if FIFA's rules are tweaked in this regard in the near future. Oscar is currently plying his trade in Chinese Super League with Shanghai SIPG, a team he joined in 2017 from Chelsea.

Oscar has been one of the top stars in the CSL since his transfer to the league and so far he has won one league title and one Chinese FA Super Cup.

Oscar said he is open to changing his national colours and also stated he could help the Chinese national team, who according to him, are on the lookout for a good midfielder.

FIFA regulations, however, is stopping him from doing so as a player can't represent a country if he has donned the jersey of another in the past.

"Of course I can think about it because it's difficult to go to the Brazil national team now because I'm here, but in China everyone sees how good I play," Oscar told Sportscene.

"The China national team need one good midfielder, so I think I can help with this. I like China, but the players now who go to China to change their nationality, they can do better also."

Oscar has fallen down the Brazil pecking order after he left Europe for Asia. He represented the national team 47 times after making his debut in 2011. He also scored 12 goals in the iconic Brazilian yellow.

He was an integral part of the national team that lifted the 2013 Confederation Cup and also the team that reached the semi-finals of 2014 FIFA World Cup.
