Abu Dhabi, Jul 29: In order to control the spread of coronavirus in UAE, a pioneering study is planned to establish resident's immunity against the virus.
Random samples are being collected from both citizens and residents to run serology to look for antibodies in the blood.
The office at Abu Dhabi has outlined the objectives of the study claiming it to be the first of its kind as per the information in Twitter.
The Abu Dhabi Public Health centre collaborated with United Arab Emirates University, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) and Mubadala National Reference Company to conduct the study which commenced on July 19 to conclude by August 16.
The objectives stand as follows:
- Understand the impact of the pandemic on the community in general.
-Check infection levels as well as percentages of those infected who developed sufficient immunity.
-Identify the percentage of the population who have COVID-19 antibodies over a specific time frame.
-Identify the percentage of infected people or patients who had the virus without showing any symptoms.
