Mangaluru, Aug 11: People normally think Dakshina Kannada as a district of intelligent people and that the district is developed. However, the going is not easy for the children here when schools and colleges are closed and they have to depend on online classes.

A large portion of this district is covered by hilly terrain and forests. Therefore naturally the students face mobile network problems. Students in bigger cities like Mangaluru have already been attending online classes. But for the rural students, attending the online classes poses a huge challenge.

For example, students at Palethadi in Uppinangady village, Puttur taluk, have adopted a bus stand as their classroom. Several students from the regions reach the bus stand in the morning to attend online classes. As the classes will be on till afternoon, they also bring their chairs with them. As this bus stand does not witness too many passengers, they do not face problems on that front.

These students walk a couple of kilometres in forest road to reach the bus stand. Once the classes are over in the afternoon, they return to their homes.

None of the networks including BSNL work in their villages. These students know that similar problems exist in other villages too. Therefore, they have got adjusted to this routine.
