Bantwal, Apr 6: Mumtaz V Kukkaje, a Std IX student of Manchi- Kolnadu Government High School has a good flair for story-writing.
With her unique sense of imagination she has brought out a collection of stories, ‘Kalpanegondhu Dari’. The book is one of the valuable contributions to Kannada literature. It comprises 11 stories including Arasi bandha bagya, Bikshuka Kalisida pata, Melu-keelu and Nijavadha Gelethana.
It was released by Bantwal MLA Ramanath Rai during the annual talent award distribution programme at Manchi-Kolnadu Government High School. The speciality of the book is that the paintings in it are contributed by the SSLC students of the school themselves.
Mumtaz’s style of story-writing is impressive and it depicts her keen sense of observing human nature and their surroundings.
“As a child my grand mother, mother as well as father used to tell me lot of stories which I used to enjoy. Later in St Rita School, Vittal where I studied till Std III, there was a separate period for moral stories which had a strong influence on my love towards stories. I still remember every story which Rita teacher used to tell us in class”, recalls Mumtaz.
Mumtaz remains grateful to her teachers who wholeheartedly supported her in bringing out the book. “The head teacher of the school T Purushottam, drawing teacher Taranath Kairangala and all the other teachers and friends have been my source of inspiration”, says she.
Mumtaz is also good academically and other than story-writing she is interested in drawing and reading books.
She is the daughter of Abdul Khader and Maimuna couple from Manchi. They have always encouraged her special talent and she considers them her strength.
