Doha, Sep 16: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) celebrated the 160th birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on Tuesday, September 15. It has been an orthodox custom which is being followed ever year including the current year. The program started with a notable quote from Sir Visvesvaraya, “It is better to work and wear out, rather than rust and perish”.
The chief guest for the program was Munera Fahad Al Dosari chief strategy officer at Ooredoo, Qatar. Technical presentations were given by Ramesh senior electrical engineer at QCHEM Mesaieed (seconded from Worley, Qatar), Hanumesh Siddegowda and Kumaraswamy.
KSQ has been felicitating engineers from Indian origin with the distinguished 'Abhiyantarashri' award since its inception. This year the award was conferred upon Indian expatriates for their contribution to the development of society and humanitarian services. The first recipient was Hemachandran senior general manager, infrastructure, Galfar Al Misnad from Andhra Pradesh and the second recipient Mahesh Gowda, vice president of ICBF from Karnataka.
The felicitation ceremony was arranged at Kanjani Hall, Integrated Indian Community Center (IICC) premises in the presence of KSQ president Nagesh Rao, KSQ management committee members, KSQ past presidents Veerabhadrappa Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, Venkat Rao, Madhu Krishnamurthy and Venkat Rao, ISC representative, KSQ past president Arun Kumar and ICBF joint secretary Subramanya Hebbagelu.
The vote of thanks was rendered by the cultural secretary of KSQ, Akshaya Shetty.
