Couple found hanging at home in Kolkata, suicide note found

Kolkata, Sep 17 (IANS): A couple was found hanging at their rented apartment in south Kolkata's Lake Gardens area on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place at a Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) housing complex. When officers from the local Charu Market police station went to the spot they found Arijit Dutta and his wife Sampurna Dutta hanging from metal hooks attached to the ceiling of their apartment.

Police said a suicide note was also recovered from the room.

A police official said that initial investigation suggests the couple had committed suicide.

"But we can't say anything till the time we receive the post-mortem examination report," a police officer said.

Arijit used to work as a cabbie running app-based taxi services.

The couple got married three years ago and they had a son who died about four months ago, police said.
