Mangalore: 'Zephyr 10' Inaugurated at St Joesph Eng College

Mangalore, Apr 8: ‘Zephyr 10’ – A Whiff of Creativity, a two-day national level post graduate management fest, organized by the department of business administration of St Joseph Engineering College Vamanjoor here, was inaugurated at the college premises on Wednesday April 8.
Dr John Wilfred Lobo, managing director of Albertsons International Pvt Ltd, who was the chief guest of the function, inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural address, he dwelt with the subject of economic revival, and presented before the audience the present day scenario on the economic front in the country, duly noting that both the income and domestic consumption in India are rising steadily. He attributed the phenomenon of the Indian economy getting unaffected by the global recession, to our strong monetary policy. He also advised the faculty members of the college to correlate the theories contained in the books with practical knowledge.
Dr Aloysius Sequeira, professor in the department of humanities, social science and management, NITK, Suratkal, presided over the inaugural. In his address, he focussed on three aspects, Zephyr, Globalization, Economy and Management Education. He noted that the two specific and most important drivers of economy are people and knowledge. “The right people with right knowledge are the need of the hour under the present economic scenario,” he stressed, ending his address with the concluding remarks that ‘the right people, who are motivated, will use their creativity to reduce cost’.
Fr Valerian D’Souza, director, and Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal of St Joseph Engineering College, were the guests of honour. Fr Valerian D’Souza exhorted the participants of the programme to enrich their knowledge and learn to take up responsibilities during the two days of the programme, and make ‘Zephyr – 10’ a grand success. Dr Joseph Gonsalvis advised the participants to become self-sufficient and self-driven to come up in life and be successful.
Fr Henry Mascarenhas, assistant director of the college, Smitha Jesudasan, faculty coordinator, and Nelson Castelino, student coordinator, were present on the dais. Mita and Ivon of the first year MBA compered the programme. The inaugural function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Nelson Castelino.
