Mangaluru, Oct 1: A Webinar on 'Exploring the world of Blended Learning' was organized by post-graduate department of Commerce, St Agnes College on Tuesday, August 29 from 10 am to 1.00 pm.
The inaugural programme started with a short prayer. Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal, St Agnes Institutions extended her good wishes to the organizers and participants. Sr Dr M Vinora AC coordinator of PG studies, St Agnes College (Autonomous) highlighted that higher education can increase the opportunities and can transform the overall quality of life. Dolan Champa Banerjee, HOD PG department of Commerce compered and moderated the whole session.
The main objective of the webinar was to highlight the importance of higher education in these difficult times. As parents and students are little skeptical in these challenging phases, the department took an initiative to ease the queries through the concept of blended learning.
Michael Andrade, director, Lykora Consulting Services, Mangaluru pondered on the benefits of post-graduation in the long run. He explained that higher education gives a deeper understanding of the subjects, high exposure, higher employability, and also high on skills. He also deliberated on what employers want and various ways students can groom themselves in these two important years.
Jnaneshwar Pai Maroor, professor at Justice K S Hedge Institute of Management, started his session stating COVID- 19 is not a virus but an opportunity for students to explore different possibilities. He explained the importance of blended learning which is focused only on higher education and referred to the collaborative research of Harvard University and Stanford University.
Five former Agnesians also shared their post-graduate journey and transformation on the same platform. Niyaz Panakaje, research scholar at Mangalore University, Velita Lobo, lecturer at St Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru, Sr Christina, assistant professor at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, Preethika Gomes, associate at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Vaishaka K Employee of Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Finance Development Corporations.
The resource persons clarified the respective questions raised by the students. Deeksha rendered the vote of thanks.
