Bangalore, Apr 19: Over 2000 child-beneficiaries of Bangalore Archdiocese' education-sponsorship programme, ASHA, participated in the inauguration of ASHA-camps across the archdiocese recently.

As a symbolic gesture to inaugurate the camps, the Archbishop watered a potted plant before the children.

Addressing the children at St Germains School, Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras said that they are the future of the nation and they must pursue your education to contribute to nation-building.

He said that they are privileged to receive education when thousands of children of their age have not even seen school yet. He asked the children to pray and remain grateful to those who sponsored for their education.

He also gave certain advices to children. “What you want to be tomorrow, you must decide today itself.  Hard-work alone can lead you to success. Respect for your teachers and your elders will bring your great rewards as you grow up.  Make use of every opportunity given to you to climb the ladder of success", he said.

ASHA is an initiative of the Archdiocese started by Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras to provide education to the less privileged.  With the help of sponsors in India and abroad, ASHA reaches out to over 2000 children every year in rural and urban Bangalore, providing children with scholarships for education among various other benefits.

The Camps organized across Bangalore archdiocese will conclude in the end of April.
