Mangalore : Home Minister Pays a Visit to St Aloysius Chapel

Mangalore, Apr 21 (TNN): "I will be back!" or so would be the words that crossed the mind or lips of V S Acharya, home minister when he visited St Aloysius College on September 23, 2009. His visit to this 125-year old college in September last was to participate in a function to dedicate the community FM radio of the college, an honour carried out by Governor H R Bhardwaj. Acharya kept his word and did visit the college here on Tuesday.

Acharya had assured the college authorities during his last visit that he would visit the famed chapel of the college, home to some of the best-known frescoes in the world. Dr Acharya had last visited this chapel a good 55-years ago, when he was a student. Terming the visit to the chapel as an enchanting and a wonderful experience, Dr Acharya told TOI that the chapel has some wonderful collection of frescoes ever known to mankind.

Spending close to an hour in the cool precincts of the chapel, Dr Acharya was escorted by the principal of the college Swebert D'Silva, and Vincent Pinto, principal of St Aloysius Evening College. Rev Fr Pinto explained about the frescoes to Dr Acharya who evinced keen interest in them. "The paintings look a lot more refreshing and lively from the time I last saw them, during which time they have been restored," Dr Acharya observed.

After the visit to the chapel, it was time for some exclusive sound bites to Radio Sarang, the community radio of the college where Richard Rego, head of the department of mass communication and journalism of the college, interviewed him. The home minister who was scheduled to attend the ongoing urus celebration at Syed Madani Darga at Ullal near here had time on hand as he had arrived much in advance to his engagement there.

Mr. Joe Gonsalves, You are just like Alice in Wonderland. You do not know what is happening to Christians in Karnataka. Mr. Acharya and his party blindly follow Mr. Narendra Modi policy – Harass the Minority and please the Majority.

I am extremely happy to find that Our Home Minister made time to visit the historical and well known St. Aloysius Chapel. This is a gift from The Jesuit Fathers of sacred memory who landed at the Idgah Hill over one hundred and thirty years ago. The Chapel houses various paintings depicting the selfless life of Jesus. The Chapel also adorns the beautiful picture of St. Aloysius who sacrificed his life for the love people during the plague in Italy.

The best gift one give another is the gift of EDUCATION and here The Jesuit Fathers are giving of themselves to others. It is wonderful to see the Aloysian GLORY. Everywhere we go we see great men carved out of raw material by The Aloysian Fathers. One sees Army Officers guarding our frontiers - doctors treating people - Architects - Engineers - I.T. specialists, priests, bishops - politicians and others who thank St. Aloysius - THEIR ALMA MATER.

To provide the best to the present generation St. Aloysius have ventured into investing several crores of rupees for the purchase of the land in Beeri. The project is ready for providing high standard and world class education to the present generation. Mr Acharya, I strongly recommend that you visit this new cite and know for yourself the kind of work The Jesuit Fathers are doing. Your advice and help will be highly appreciated. THANK YOU HOME MINISTER for your support.

Humbly submitted by a senior Aloysian:

I don't know why this Corrupt Home Minister is given so much of importance by our Priests and Nuns ? This person is a BIGGEST CROOK in BJP and is more Corrupted person. He could not solve the Chruch attacks problem even though its nearing to two years now. Still our Christian Community are treating these people as very important. Shame on our Priests. Where this Acharaya waswhen Churches were attacked ? Did he visit any Churhc whichwas attacked ? Now why Drama ? because Panchayat elections are coming. Shameless people. Such people should not been given entry into any Christian Campus. I hope Acharya does not send any RSS, Ram Sena or Bajrangdal people to attack the Chapel.
