Bengaluru, Nov 7: The issue of ministry reorganization or expansion has come to the fore after taking a backseat for a couple of months. Still, the suspense over whether there will be expansion or rejig is yet to be decided. A clear picture will emerge after the result of Bihar assembly election is announced.

Over 20 people are waiting to be made ministers. After the cabinet was expanded during February last, there were hopes of cabinet expansion a couple of times, but each time the frustrating wait got extended as the top leadership was not agreeable and also because of coronavirus infection. Flood situation and two bypolls made the leadership to wait further.

Chief minister B S Yediyurappa has kept six vacant seats unfilled to accommodate some people who left their parties and joined the BJP. With the resignation of C T Ravi, who has been made the national general secretary of the party, the vacancies will rise to seven once the same is accepted. It is said that the national leaders are in favour of dropping non-performers and giving a semblance of balance and efficiency to the ministry. When doing this exercise, they will keep an eye on the effect the same will have on the next assembly election. They also are aware that a feeling that those who remained loyal to the BJP for long have not been rewarded has sunk in some sections. There is also a thinking to drop a couple of inefficient ministers who joined the ministry after the bypoll, having been rewarded for supporting the BJP.

Yediyurappa said that he is waiting for the result of the two assembly bypolls, election for which was held recently, after which he will contact the higher ups for appointment to consult the cabinet expansion. He plans to visit Delhi after November 11 for having a detailed discussion and getting the list approved.
