Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Nov 9: Five tourists out of a group of 10 from Bengaluru had come to Malpe seashore on Wednesday, November 9 at 12.30 pm. The group were having a bath in the sea when they nearly drowned. However, they were rescued from a terrible fate and admitted to the hospital.

They were rescued by a tourist boat and Jet Ski boat drivers. Doddaballapur resident Maruti Suhan (20) and Mandya resident Muralidhar (28) suffered serious injuries while drowning. They were admitted to hospital by Ravi of Harbour Friends.

The injured are under treatment in Ajjarkad government hospital. No case is registered in this connection so far.

This is the fifth incident of such kind to happen in Malpe. Locals believe that tourists who visit Malpe are unaware regarding the strenght of the currents in the sea.

Why there are no police petrol or any other warning signs to discourage the visitors who venture into the rough sea. Mostly such tourists are from North Karnataka who do not have sea shores and come to the coastal districts to enjoy or take a dip in the sea.
Thanks God they were rescued by the locals.

Most of the tourists from other than DK and Udupi districts thinking that as if they are swimming/bathing in the river and they are venturing into deep sea without any knowledge.

The entire coastal belt of Karnataka, is unsafe due to strong currents, which drag potential bathers and even good swimmers to their watery graves... Life guards can rescue barely few foolish tourists... The Government must put a " Statutory warning regarding the perils of swimming " Along with the photographs of the deceased, to instill fear in the minds of citizens !!! Prominent " Red flags" must be hoisted along the coast, like in Goa, advising people from entering into the turbulent sea !!!

I'm saying this repeatedly. These Non coastal people think they can swim in the beach but they can't really! Unlike loxal people They don't know the intensity of the waves. I think rules should be issued for non local people.

Tourists in India are not responsible or alert tourists ..They do not plan ..Its like unplanned dumping in the morning.
When women are around they want to show off and a macho and go further into the sea ..We all know what the results would be.
Kudos to the sea sports personnel who saved these idiots ..who probably will lead a responsible and quality life after the second chance
