with maloos acquiring forest lands supposedly for plantations....what will be the status of MLR in fututre... Kerala was also land of hills and forests which were grazed and razed to build roads, resorts , holidays homes etc. etc. for easy tourism money... so KL had to face the fully fury of mother nature in the form of floods (deluge) and landslides... that should not happen in our Malnaad, Chimagalur, Kodagu, Sullia... kollur ... hope people have learnt the lessons ....

With temperature 35.9 degree C, coupled with Mangalore's November month average relative humidity of 77%, one would definitely feel a higher heat by about 2 to 3 degrees. Akola and Rajastan have recorded 50 and 51 degrees respectively in summer, even such places are cooler than Mangalore at this time of the year. Surely, slowly and steadily, people in Mangalore have to bear the brunt of this problem.

The rate at which trees are being cut around Mangalore, as anywhere else, this was only bound to happen. I am afraid things are only going to worsen in the days and years to come unless people come forward and start growing trees. From the look of it, not many people seem to be worried. We will have nobody else but to blame ourselves if we fail to take corrective action now.

Cutting trees. Plus concrete roads can also intensify heat by a phenomenon called urban heat islands(UHI). You can Google it to read about it. Concrete roads and walls soak up the heat and create an oven like effect in cities. This is why we have seen that over the past few years, it's becoming unbearable in the afternoon to go out.

Yes it will be... Let's cut the trees as many as possible...and build structures to let out. When you cut one tree, plant two around the structures..... Otherwise let's face the heat..
