Udupi: MLA Raghupati Bhat thanks CM Yediyurappa for his 'Deepavali gift'

Udupi, Nov 13: Chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa, has approved the construction of two vented dams costing Rs 35 crore each, one of which is to block saline water from contaminating fresh water in Brahmavar taluk in this assembly constituency. MLA Raghupati Bhat, has expressed his thankfulness to the CM for getting the projects passed at the cabinet meeting and thus giving a huge gift to Udupi constituency on the occasion of Deepavali.

Bhat, speaking on behalf of the people of the constituency, said that he and the people here are grateful to the CM for responding to the demands of the people in spite of financial constraints caused by COVID19 pandemic.

One of these projects is meant for drinking water and to irrigate agricultural lands besides blocking saline water. He also thanked the minister for minor irrigation, J C Madhuswamy, for cooperating in preparing a report that favoured the projects, and also for helping in placing the proposal in the cabinet meeting and getting the same cleared.

One of these vented dams will come up near Mogaveera Pete Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple in Brahmavar taluk across River Sita where a bridge will also be built. The other is at Herrayibettu in Uppoor village of Brahmavar taluk across Madisalu rivulet near the bridge where the prime purpose is to block salty water. Both these projects worth Rs 35 crore each have been cleared by the cabinet.
