AAI clarifies

The Airports Authority of India on Friday clarified that the Mangalore Airport Director had no intimation about the mass burial of March 22 air crash victims on Wednesday.

"The absence of the Airport Director during the mass burial away from the airport was not intentional as the programme was conducted by the district administration as per their own schedule without any intimation to the Airport Director," a statement issued by the AAI said.

The statement comes in the wake of reports in a section of the media about his absence in the mass burial.

The Airport Director had already approved and participated in three condolence meetings on airport premises of which one was conducted by the District Administration, it added.
