Bengaluru: Talk of JD(S) merger - Kumaraswamy livid against BJP

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 4: Talk about the merger of the JD(S) with the BJP in order to crush the Congress has been making the rounds since sometime. People are heard discussing the prospects of Kumaraswamy announcing this decision soon.

When the rumour that the JD(S) would be joining hands with the BJP filled the air recently, Kumaraswamy did not outright deny the rumours. Instead, he chose to say that any political development can happen at any time, without straightway rubbishing the rumour. Some predominant sources in the party gave out the information that the JD(S) is inclined to become a part of the National Democratic Alliance. After this, rumours have been flying thick and thin about the possibility of merger.

In order to put a halt to these rumours, Kumaraswamy, on Sunday January 3, issued a stern statement in a tweet.

"The BJP has been convinced by the result of the gram panchayat election that all efforts to demolish the JD(S) have failed. Because Of this reason, the BJP has chosen to play out a drama of coalition with the JD(S). That is why they have been spreading imaginary news that the JD(S) would be joining hands with the NDA. All this talk is utter falsehood," Kumaraswamy thundered.

Kumaraswamy recalled that when Deve Gowda stepped down as the Prime minister in the year 1997, top BJP leader, the late A B Vajpayee, had told him that the BJP was prepared to support the Janata Dal. "We refused to be lured then even with the offer of the PM's post then. We never fall to the offer of ministerial positions now," he clarified.

Kumaraswamy said that at present, none of the parties are in need of anyone else's support. "We want the state's development. Gram panchayat election has shown that our workers are ready to work with enthusiasm and vigour. Our only aim now is to strengthen the organizational structure of the party," he stated.

INC and JDS, are at a crossroad... piggybacking on irrelevant regional players will not ensure their survival !!! They have to merge or face total destruction... Best option for the INC is to merge with SDPI to prey on minority vote bank, whereas the JDS has to melt with the BJP to claim the majority community votes !!!

People should encourage JDS merger with BJP. At least this will make a direct fight between congress and BJP. Anyway JDS cannot win many seats by sharing with any party.

Dont worry Sir. After the GP elections, the grand old party has an additional burden. SDPI!!!.
With the new major shift of votes, for sure the grand old party would definitely require your support and will come running to your door step.

I doubt HDK would entertain Congress party going forward. Moreover, Congress has only shrunk after 2018 elections.
SDPI is a safe bet for JDS. and they can boast of ruling one state.

The only party that would require JDS support is CONGRESS. Especially after the recent Panchayat elections, it woke up to the fact that its vote bank has depleted significantly. A major chunk of its vote base has moved over to SDPI. Moreover there is a leadership crisis as well. For sure it will be HDK as Ktaka CM in 2023 with Cong support.
