MEDIA IS A BIG JOKE IN OUR COUNTRY INDIA. instead investigate and let the people know about the fiasco after the crash that led to rotting of victims, 33 claimants not getting bodies of the loved ones and 12 bodies un-identified and unceremoniously burried. BUT MEDIA DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT BECAUSE ITS NOT A BREAKING NEWS FOR THEM....HA?

The Webster English dictionary describes POSTMORTEM as an examination of the body after death. I am constrained to point out that this is what is being done now. I am sure that Former Air Marshall Gokhale will make a detailed study regarding the accident to determine the cause of The Boeing Crash which took place on May 22nd. 2010. However any number of inquiries will not resurrect the one hundred and fifty-eight persons who lost their lives.

COULD THIS ACCIDENT HAVE BEEN AVERTED? Perhaps there is an answer to this question if one goes back to the antecedents and history. It is reported that a P.I.L. Petition No 37681/1997 was filed in The Karnataka High Court asking for restraining The Authorities to go ahead with the project of The New Airport for the reasons like:
    1. That The proposed Airport did not conform to the basic National and International standards

    2. That The Airport did not conform with the minimum safeguards for landings.

It is also stated that the proposed runway design was inadequate for landing of wide bodied air crafts like Airbus 320

It is said that The respondents filed affidavits against the said P.I.L. Petition and The Court dismissed the case

On the part of The Airlines - It is pertinent to point out that well experienced pilots were questioned for their conduct regarding strategic decisions like GO-AROUND or HARD landings. It is not out of place to point out that responsible pilots with considerable experience should have been allowed to use their discretion during emergencies. Was Captain Glusica paranoid because of the treatment meted to him earlier? Again did Captain Glusica did not abort the landing because of fear of being questioned?

Perhaps Air India revise their policies and practices. Airlines like Emirates, Singapore and Korean have rightly decided to do away with practice of asking their pilots to file reports on their decisions to GO-AROUND.

Remember the photograph in the media and the exitement when the Black Box was recovered and held aloft by the DGCA official with a "broad smile" as though it was a "Wimbledon Trophy". Media for one in India is at its lowest in ethics on the one hand and on the other, Govt. officials and Politicians alike crave for media attention at the of a hat even if it means horrific tragedy like this one. This and many other such tragedies like Bhopal, Mumbai, Gujarat, West Bengal etc are all but forgotten without lessons being learnt. Our Moily says (after 26 years) BIG lessons are to be learnt. If not he and his fellow politicians who else is he wanting to learn. It does'nt cost Govts. to construct monuments. They are ever eager to errect one and media is there again. Indtead of focusing on the crash investigation which is best left to the DGCA, the media could, instead investigate and let the people know about the fiasco after the crash that led to rotting of victims, 33 claimants not getting bodies of the loved ones and 12 bodies un-identified and unceremoniously burried.
