‘Mangalore One’ to Simplify Lives of City Residents

Mangalore, June 9: The ‘Mangalore One Project’, aimed at offering services along the lines of one-stop shops, was inaugurated by Krishna J Palemar, the district-in-charge minister at Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Wednesday June 9.
With this, citizens can avail themselves of three services under one roof — payment of electricity bill, BSNL Mobile bill payment and obtaining passport applications.
Explaining about the project, Palemar said that a number of private as well as government services will offer their services under one umbrella.
Dr K N Vijayaprakash, commissioner, MCC, welcomed the gathering and said that it is a historical event for the city where various services are provided under one roof. He added that this was a dream of the government which has come true in the city where three offices will be inaugurated on Wednesday.
M M Vidyashankar, secretary of e-governance, said that the e-governance service in Bangalore has 60 centers and provides 43 services.
“After ‘Hubli One’, ‘Mysore One’, and ‘Tumkur One’, it has finally reached the city as ‘Mangalore One’. The main intention is to provide services under one roof. A total of Rs 85 lac has been spent on the project including cost of the office, printers, and computers”, he said.
Mangalore One, in the initial stage will offer services like electricity bill payments, sale of passport applications, ‘Cellone’ mobile bill payment, and so on from the day of its inauguration.
Dr Ravindran proposed the vote of thanks. MLA Yogish Bhat presided over the programme. State home minister Dr V S Acharya, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mayor Rajani Dugganna, deputy mayor Rajendra Kumar, deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj, and Abobakar, president, minority development commission, were present on the occasion.
