Mangalore June 16: Superintendent of police (SP) Subrahmanyeshwar Rao said in a press meet at the SP’s office in the city on Tuesday June 15 that the murderer of 58-year-old B Gangadhar Achar has been caught by assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Amith Kumar Singh along with other personnel of the department.

Madhav Nayak, a 24-year-old from Kaladka, has been found to have committed the murder and this is his first offence.

Nayak said that had used the name Ganesh and identified himself as a resident of Puttur when he visited Bharath Finance near Market Road in the city.







He had claimed that he had eight sovereigns of gold pawned with the Puttur Gramin Bank and he wanted to retrieve the gold and sell it to Bharath Finance and keep the pending profit.    

The company sent its agent Gangadhar Achar with the required amount of Rs 1,15,000 to secure the gold. Later, both of them were found to have gone missing.

Mohan Kumar lodged a complaint at the north police station in the city on Saturday June 5 and with the help of the mobile tower location they found Achar dead in a pit at Kodambadi Puttur, on the same day. 

Nayak was caught at Kundapur bus stand while he was about to escape to Mumbai by bus early morning on Tuesday. The police also seized a knife, a mobile, and Rs 93,420 from his possession.
