Mangaluru: Appeal - 11-year-old Ayshathul Rafiza needs your help to defeat cancer

Mangaluru, Feb 17: Ayshathul Rafiza is a 11-year-old girl who is bravely fighting cancer at a tender age. However, she requires financial assistance urgently in order to defeat the dreaded disease.

According to the medical certificate provide by Dr Harsha Prasada L, consultant paediatric haematologist/oncologist, KMC Hospital here, Rafiza was admitted to KMC Hospital on January 27. She was admitted for having difficulty in breathing whilst lying down, along with cough and vomiting for a week. There was no history of fever or any swelling in any part of the body.

On examination, she was well except for exhibiting cough and the fact that she could not lie down. Further investigation such as blood tests and CT test and an echocardiogram showed the mediastinal mass suggestive of lymphoma. The biopsy under CT test performed by the interventional radiologist confirmed the diagnosis of B cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. The reports of the bone marrow aspiration and CSF analysis are awaited.

"We have started her on UKALL 2003 protocol Regimen B similar to acute lymphoblastic leukaemia treatment. The treatment consists of frequent blood tests, injections, intrathecal injections which delivered over a period of 2 years and 8 months period," stated the doctor's certificate.

The entire course of treatment would cost around Rs 10 lac.

The family is unable to afford their little girl's treatment, and has requested individuals and philanthropists to help Rafiza get back her normal life.

    It is heartwrenching to read that so small children are suffering from these terrible disease ,and bad part of it is parents are poor and cant afford the cost.May God give her enough strength to bear the sickness and get well soon.God bless her.
