Mangaluru, Mar 19: As the people entering Dakshina Kannada district from Kerala are found to be more prone to coronavirus infection, the district health officer (DHO) and tahsildar conducted a joint operation at Talapady on Friday March 19.

A close watch is being kept on the people entering the district from Kerala. The officials have been stopping the vehicles and seeking production of RT-PCR test reports.

In the morning, the officials stopped a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus. An environment confusion prevailed thereafter in the air for some time. The officials let the vehicles go with a warning that without the reports, vehicles would not be allowed to enter Dakshina Kannada from Saturday.

Provision for a free test has also been made at the COVID testing centre functioning in Talapady.

District health officer Dr Ramachandra Bairy, taluk tahsildar Guruprasad, taluk health officer Dr Sujay Bhandary, revenue inspector Stephen, Talapady panchayat development officer Keshava Poojary, home guards and Ullal police personnel were involved with the checking operation.
