Udupi: Army aspirants sleep by roadsides – DC issues clarification

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Mar 19: The candidates who are participating in the army recruitment rally that is under way in the city, have been found sleeping on the public roads at night. The people are expressing unhappiness at this situation.

The army recruitment rally has been going on here for the last few days. It will continue till March 29. Thousands of aspirants who have come to participate in the rally from different parts of the city, are facing hardships as they do not have proper facilities here.

The rally begins at 4 am every day. Various physical and medical tests are performed for the candidates during the day. Admaru Math here has been providing food free of cost for the candidates. But the candidates do not have the facility to spend nights. Therefore they are seen sleeping on the footpaths. After a local created a social media post regarding this situation people have been expressing anger at this situation.

Udupi district deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha, by way of clarification, said that this is an army selection camp for which the administration has extended cooperation. "The administration has arranged for their stay at six places. Unlike in other districts, we have provided food to them. Some come here at midnight, sleep wherever it is convenient, and leave for the recruitment rally at 4 am. The district administration, with the support of donors, has arranged free lunch, breakfast, drinking water and lodging facility without spending anything from the government. Some are indulging in malicious campaigning which is wrong," he noted.

Even though the administration has arranged for the stay of candidates in schools, halls of temples etc, some candidates are dithering from using this facility as they have to leave by 4 am. Many social service organizations have also offered to provide night stay facilities for these candidates. It is left for the candidates to make use of these facilities.

This DC is not clear, if he has communicated about the facilities to all Army aspirants. He is also not clear, if the facilities provided are up to the mark, and are able to cover every Army aspirants. DC statement saying "Some are indulging in malicious campaigning which is wrong," is a bit questionable. I wish to tell the DC, that any public service not rendered in its true spirit is a waste of tax payer's money and a national disgrace too. Jai Hind!!!

Yes, it is very sad to see that potential recruits have to experience such degrading hardships and humiliation to sleep on the footpath just to seek a job ! This is the unfortunate outcome of failure to limit runaway population. The idea of family planning was conceived and put into practice by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s govt. but was never pursued with vigour and determination. We are all paying a bitter price for inaction now. In 1947, the population of India was around 300 million and now its is 1300 million. Runaway population brings All sorts of problems. Pollution, poverty, crime etc. It is endless. We are more interested in politicizing religion and propagating communal ideologies and renaming cities etc. than uniting to defeat threats to society. When will it stop? It is sad.

Appreciate donors who arranged free lunch, breakfast, drinking water and lodging facility for these poor youths. This is not the first time its been happing from many years but nothing is improved. Those government official involved this mess should be held accountable.

Why do we have this army recruitment camp in Udupi. I am sure out of the 30,000 aspirants expected, not even 1% will be from Udupi or Mangalore. I read somewhere that majority of the aspirants are from North karnataka. Why not have this in their region itself and avoid these kind of logistical nightmare ?

Parents please give birth to a child with the surity that when he grows up he need not wander in search of job. Me too felt during those days when I found it very difficult to get a job in India. That time I thought many times I will never produce children unless I get a well paid job. Due to god's grace I met a good Samaritan agent and he made me to fly aboard.since then I am happy. We blame government But we must control our sexual pleasure Difficulty not only for parents. It is not easy to bring up a child. Too much sacrifice is required for parents. But for that children also.

Joshua mangalore ,C.R.here your expression of children is not good.We dont produce children but decide to have a child when and why.with love decide to have it as per our wish.Depends on us.A poor man too can have a child but has to bring up with good education and love. Not simply leave on road side. Here the Army aspirants should have been given a fix termin to come for exam Thats responsibility of Army.A simply advt.in papers makes this chaos perfect. One has to apply first ,then a termin for fitness and medical test etc. This on road side sleeping certainly a neusense for people. One never know who is who and fear of looting and dadagiri too may happen when they dont have money.Badboys too mix in this chaos to theft.
