Bengaluru, Mar 21: Health experts have recommended closing schools, colleges, gyms and swimming pools for at least two weeks in the wake of rising number of coronavirus cases in the state.

Meeting in this regard was held by coronavirus control technical advisory committee. Sources said that the decisions arrived at the meeting have been conveyed to health and medical education minister Dr Sudhakar. These suggestions are likely to be implemented soon after the health minister holds discussions with respective ministers and CM.

A health expert said, "As the chances of coronavirus infection spreading is more in schools, colleges, gyms and swimming pools, these facilities need to be closed for two weeks. For indoor and outdoor programmes only 100 and 200 people should be allowed respectively. Only 50% seating capacity should be allowed in Cinema halls and multiplexes. These recommendations have been given to the health minister."

Meeting of the coronavirus technical expert committee is holding meetings once a week since the beginning of March. Complimentary to this, the cases of coronavirus infection have doubled in the state. The possibility of more stringent actions are expected to be implemented next week. However, chief minister B S Yediyurappa has ruled out another lockdown.

Last week daily new cases were in and around 900. This has doubled this week, with 1,798 new cases reporting on Saturday, March 20. Seven people have also died. The positivity rate which was less than one percent in the beginning of March has shot up to two percent. This means that coronavirus positive is being detected in every two out of 100 people who are being checked. At present, there are 12,828 active cases in Karnataka.

Apart from Maharashtra and Kerala, Karnataka is third in the country where new coronavirus cases on daily basis are being reported. In Maharashtra, the daily cases are in the range of 25,000 while in Kerala it has touched more than 2,000.

I request the authorities to take strict action against those who consume pan/ghutka & spit on the roads. These people r the main causes of Carona spread. Also fine people who r not wearing masks, specially shop keepers, hotel staff. Some particular people think wearing masks r against their beliefs.

It is never too late to close down schools, gyms, pools not just for two weeks but un till the corona cases come down to the minimum. Also all people should strictly follow the protocols. Otherwise this Covid-19 will never end. The present situation is bad and only we can control.

Experts or X perts? A test that never was intended to test for Covid is used without approval of any FDA, any positive result doesn't prove the virus is there or was there, out of 120000 viruses which viruses exist inside those tested nobody knows but arrive at a conclusion that it had to have a name like us seems to be the intention of this hoax creators. The same way it doesn't mean there was any disease by any of the viruses as healthy people are subjected to PCR Pandemic. Again data proves in all the countries prove not a single student got infection of spread it to their parents or teachers. Again why should these experts create their own or guidelines created by WHO through instigation of biggest Fund giver to them Bill Gates. Wake up before we are turned into Pawns in the hands of a few people who want to control us through creation of this hoax in the name of Emergency & powers to usurp our freedom of practice, expression & right to work. Depriving our kids of education thereby hitting our biggest export our manpower in skilled & IT sectors seems the final motive & our leaders have failed to see their evil design to subvert our economy & to subjugate under their control through loans we are forced to borrow to survive. Let us be like African Nation like Tanzania who debunked the hoax theory & he is no more for opposing these global evil powers. Mysterious death of a great leader. Japan another nation who had defied them, their Premier was forced to resign with health reason which is to open their country to vaccines again which Abe had banned. Now Denmak & Mozambic are next in line of these globalists most probably.

School should be closed immediately .or else the situation will be out of control.parents should not send thier children to school .some school exams are have already started .govt should make it very clear today itself instead keeping the matter in dilemma. School colleges should be taken in priority

Implement stricter fines for not wearing masks and not maintaining physical distance. A strict no to crowding. Fines to malls and shops for over crowding. Implement all these and definitely you will see reduction in cases.

Exactly.... fine double for those who cheat everyone by keeping mask on their chin and neck in order to show that they carry mask. Rest all the points i agree with Shankaranna. Close down the educational institutions fast because students go everywhere without mask and carry symptoms to home....They never maintain social distance and do not sanitize themselves....Very very few students follow the guidelines...Start imposing fine from today itself. No excuses. Dont give any free medical treatment to anyone. Because its negligence purely from the public.

You must be sent to the front where the cases are more and made to work in such conditions. It is easy commenting sitting behind a screen.
