Kundapur: 'Parents should give priority to children's health'- DC

Kundapur, Mar 25: "Poshan Abhiyan is a program to bring children out of malnutrition. When compared to other districts, the number of malnutrition is very less. In the district, there are 19 severe malnourished children and 270 moderately malnourished children. Such children should be brought to the NRC Centre," deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.
 
He was speaking after inaugurating the 'Paushtika Sambhrama' programme organised by the zilla panchayat, taluk health officer's office, Kundapur, women and child development department, horticulture department, Indian Red Cross Society Kundapur at Bhandarkar's College here on March 25.
 














































































 
Parents should give priority to the health of children. If not the children and society will not forgive us. People should utilize the benefits of naturally available nutritious food, he said.
 
Zilla panchayath CEO Naveen Bhat said, "Initial 1000 days of a child is very important for the growth. In this period, if there is any malnutrition it can be treated. Both father and mother are equally responsible for providing the child with good health."
 
Assistant commissioner K Raju, taluk panchayat president, H Indira Shetty, Kundapur town municipal president, Veena Baskar Mendon, Indian Red Cross Society chairman, Jayakar Shetty, Bhandarkar's College principal, Dr N P Narayan Shetty, tahsildar, Anandappa Nayak, horticulture department, Sanjeeva Nayak and supervisor of child development, Suma offered prayer. Taluk health officer, Dr Nagabushan Udupa welcomed the gatthering. Child development project officer, Shwetha rendered the vote of thanks. Kandlur Primary Health Center's Dr Latha compered the event.
 
Sahana Silk House Kundapur, Super Grade Electrical contractor, K R Naik, Hotel Parijatha Kundapur co-sponsored the programme. Dr Sudharashan Udupa, Dr Prameela Nayak were present as resource persons.
 
During the programme nutritious plants, vegetables were displayed.
