Winston Churchill's Dentures to be Auctioned

London, July 29 (IANS) Winston Churchill's famous wartime oratory would perhaps not have been so powerful without his specially-designed gold-plated dentures that are now up for sale.

The dentures will be auctioned at Keys' Salerooms in Aylsham, Norfolk.

Churchill had a set of false teeth designed to disguise his lisp. A part of the set of teeth is being sold by the son of the dental technician who designed them, Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.

"It is so quirky - one of those things which is so unusual that it could make a huge amount of money. The teeth are set in dentist's gold - but I think it is safe to say they won't be sold for their scrap value," Andrew Bullock, valuer at Keys', was quoted as saying.

The wartime prime minister needed the dentures to hide his speech impediment and to help him speak clearly over the radio.

The false teeth have a guide price of 4,500 to 5,000 pounds.
