Brahmavar, Apr 20: Dalit Sangharsha committee convenor Ambedkar Sunder Master has called for legal action against Brahmavar BEO O R Prakash for sending a WhatsApp message under the title Proud to be Brahmin in the group consisting of Kannada lecturers. Sunder claims that the message was sent with the intention of insulting Bharat Ratna awardee late Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
“My friends, who are also teachers, Narayan Majoor, Fakirappa and Hiriya Master showed me that message. O R Prakash in the message has claimed that Babasaheb has not written the Constitution on his own. The Constitution was written by Benegal Narsing Rau. The message was sent to different WhatsApp groups consisting of educators, who were then asked to share the message," the committee convenor said.
“The statement will send a wrong message to the teacher’s community. The sender of the message is a government servant. The message is intended to show the supremacy of Brahmins. A case should be registered under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and section 3(1)U, 3(1)V) of the Indian Penal Code. Suitable legal action should also be taken against the guilty,” urged Sunder Master in a complaint with the Brahmavar police station.
