Dear Noronha Family, words may not suffice to express the heartfelt sorrow that I feel on the passing of our dearest family friend Fr. Peter Noronha. Being always active in the parish activities I was thrilled when I came to know him on the day of his arrival in our Parish at Bijay in May 1965. He was a dynamic priest, full of fun and attracted all the youngsters with his warm smile and I felt as if I was in the presence of a modern DON BOSCO. He was full of innovative ideas and always supported me to promote youth activities in the parish both devotional as well as recreational just the way Don Bosco did in his time. There were times when due to my enthusiasm I would even knock at his door in the late hours of the nights (11pm) to discuss with him. He would always open the door and had all the patience to listen to me. Same way he too would come rushing to me to develope the films from his camera. Together we organised Christmas carols, youth festivals, cross country race as well as picnics which have left a deep impression on me. When I settled down in Germany I was able to arrange for Fr. Peter twice to come and spend some time with me in my German family and assist in our German parish and visit some of the Research Centres at the German Universities and he was very much overwhelmed and grateful for this experience. Later when I published the very first documentary book of my little German town, I was able to include his name and photograph in the book relating his contribution to our German society. To my surprise the book was accepted by the German National Library in Berlin and today I feel a great deal of satisfaction of immortalising him among others in this prestigious way. He was a dedicated priest and served God and his fellow human beings through out his life. Today we can truly believe that he is still searching the infinite wisdom and goodness of the creator more earnestly and with more success than when his spirit animated a mortal body.

Can never forget the thrills and joy of our weekly motor bike rides when Fr. Peter was the Asst. Parish Priest in Bajpe. It was sometime '64-'65. Permude Chapel was newly built then and I rode pillion with Fr. Peter for the Sunday mass as his sacristan and alter server. Can never forget when he took some of us high school kids to Mangalore from Bajpe for the "Occasions Week" day outing. Still remember the Konkani movie (Amchen Nosib) Fr. Peter took us to watch in Jyothi Talkies that evening after visiting the Occasions Week stalls put up by various orders. This was our first movie outing for some of us Bajpe kids who had not seen the inside of a theatre before. And a thank you to all the family members of Fr. Peter (his parents and others) who provided us food and shelter that night back in 1965. Thank you Fr. Peter for these and many more unforgettable memories that still live with us even though you have left us all and gone to heaven. Rest in peace Father Peter. Will never forget you ever for the great memories you left in our hearts in our early formative years of our life which shaped us to be honest, upright and good human beings.

Our dearest Fr Peter, We miss you so much. You were my dad's classmate and one of his best friend's. Fr Peter spent almost 5 hours with my dad, having conversations of their good old days. Never did Fr Peter imagine that would be the last conversation with my dad. 4 days after that my dad passed away. Fr Peter, you were in tears. You led the funeral, you were there for my dad's weekly mind mass and my dad's yearly mind mass. I remember how you prayed for me when I was carrying my child. I was extremely lucky to have grace the occasion of my baby's Christening ceremony in 2017 and be a part of my baby's first birthday. Having you on those 2 amazing occasions made me feel like my dad was present. On both those occasions, you remembered my dad. Now you have joined him. I really miss you so much that I am opening my whatsapp just to see your pic. My mum and I miss you the most Father. We have lost a beautiful person in our lives. Please continue to pray for us Father. We need your prayers. You were longing to see my baby and my mum told you that we will bring her once the pandemic ends. Who knew you would leave us? You kept asking my mum if my baby started walking and if she started talking. Yes Father, she does. You would have loved watching her. We have your little sweet gift that you gifted her on her first birthday. That's the sweetest memory and your pictures. You are forever in our heart's. We lost you, we lost you.

His deep faith in God enabled him to take great risks for the growth of the institution. . A hardworking, committed and compassionate priest, Fr. Peter endeared himself to one and all. He was a great support to School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, especially regarding field work placements for our MSW students during his tenure as Director of the hospital. Dearest Peter uncle, today it's a great loss to entire NORONHA family, you were a special uncle to all to your relatives as Pellu padrab, Pellu dattu and Peter uncle. We loved you always. You were very determind to do all your personal deeds by yourself, not ready to hold anyone's hand to walk, or drive you around or get your food for you in functions. You never missed to grace any occasions in the entire family even in niece or nephew s family functions. Even grand children and great grand children of your cousin's. As a priest you obeyed the commands of God as well as your superiors always. Accomplished great achievements in every task given to 💯%. Very obedient, witty, fun loving and understanding always. No nonsense anywhere. Your love for agriculture was amazing proved by your lovely terrace garden I witnessed in Udupi parish. That's Noronha family trade. Even in your retirement days you spent in homeopathy medical college derlakatte, shows your love towards the youngsters. You were always with THY WILL BE DONE, with Jesus, and we are sure you are there near Jesus along with your most loved sister Cecil bai my mom, dad victor, Anoop and Tony bavoji. We will miss you uncle always. LOVE YOU . From Percy, Dr.Jessy, Tanya, Daniel and David .

Father Peter Noronha ,I knew him from my childhood since my parents were from bala village near kati pala . I used to go to Bala village during my summer vaccination ,and Father Peter Noronha was building the Church at Kati pala . No doubt due to his hard work we have now a church in kati pala . On Sundays as a small boy , I used to go to this Church and his sermon were telepathy to ones mind ,only if we hear within our heart soul and mind .Today I am , it is because of his counselling I am what I am today . Thereafter since my grandfather property's was taken by Karantaka industrial development and the sad property was over taken by BASF and MRPL , my going to native place was absent . After many years in 2018 I met Father Noronha in Manglore after 30 years incially he did not recognise me then I told my grand fathers name he recognise me , and then he told the full history of my grand father land . So was his wisdom , understanding human from heart and seeking to do the will of God inspite he being not well from age of 27, such human are hard to find , he used to give many people spiritual guidance ,living water and human help , even to his relatives also,8it is just like a camel taken to a canal to drink water it is up to the camel to drink water or not , may perpetual bliss shine upon you Father ,and your soul rest in peace . I had known Fr. Peter Noronha from 1980 when my mother lay dying in a single-bedded room at Fr. Muller Hospital and I kept vigil over her. He was Director of Fr. Muller Hospital then. Coming to know of my journalistic background, Fr. Peter assigned me a room next to my mother’s and requested me to write a draft history of the hospital, with all the related documents sent to my assigned room. Later on, when the hospital was marking its post-centenary silver jubilee (2005)I was associated with bringing out the Souvenir under the then Director, Fr. Baptist Menazes and under the editorship of the late Fr Alexander D’Souza, also an ex-Director of the institution. Since then I have been meeting Fr. Peter off and on, specially since we both belong to Bondel parish and he used to offer morning Mass whenever he stayed at his ancestral farm-house near Marakada - and I was a daily Mass-goer. A simple, charming gentleman, Fr Peter carried his considerable achievements lightly on his broad shoulders. May his soul rest in well-deserved eternal peace and may his family be consoled,

I knew Fr Peter Noronha as a boy when he was the Parish Priest of Katipalla. When the displaced Catholics came from Panambur and settled at Katipalla he was a great pillar of support for the people. He built the Church in Katipalla and gave jobs to hundreds of people to work in the farm. I too as a young boy worked there in my holidays. He used to pass by our house in Kulai and I used to ask his blessings. As the Director of Fr Mullers Hospital he gave his best to the development of the hospital. As Parish Priest of St Sebastian Church Bendoor he built families and communities. He was a great source of inspiration for all. He guided young students to become priests and sent many young girls to women congregations. He was an educationist and Vuitton the St Mary’s School in Udupi. He was a great pastor. He supported a lot of young priests to be holy and faithful priests. Many who were his assistants had tremendous praise for him. He loved celebrations. He loved to celebrate his birthday with his priest friends. The Church in Mangalore and Udupi dioceses has lost a faithful servant of Jesus who tirelessly served to establish God’s kingdom here on earth. His death is a loss for the Church in India too. Heartfelt condolences to the Bishop of Mangalore and all the clergy. Condolences to the family members. May his soul rest in peace! Long live Fr Peter Noronha.

Let us pray for all the priests as well as other people who are affected by COVID. Meantime we also have to have a retrospection why the places of worship were kept open when they were closed in Bangalore and in other places. Large congregation were gathering without following norms during Holy Week celebrations.

This is not due to places of worship being kept open. He is a retired priest, living in a retirement home.
