Kuwait, May 10: Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK) is one of the leading secular associations in Kuwait, with the motto of ‘Unity through Language’, connecting the Tulu-speaking community of coastal Karnataka who are residing in Kuwait. The association is affiliated with the Indian Embassy of Kuwait, with about 5,000 registered members. For the past 21 years, Tulu Koota Kuwait is at the forefront, focusing on charity projects or programs that add value to the welfare activities in Kuwait and India. Recently the association has won the prestigious Karnataka State Tulu Sahitya Academy Award for the year 2020 for its outstanding contribution to society.
Tulu Koota Kuwait, persistently continuing its charity work, and in the year 2021, embarked on a new initiative to donate clothes to the orphanages in Mangalore and Udupi district upon their request. This philanthropic activity was initiated under ‘Donate Cloth Drive’ during the month of March with the help of Tulu Koota committee members. The drive rendered helping hands to- Suraksha Charitable Trust, Jarigudde, Salmara, Karkala, Udupi, Snehadeep - HIV Positive Child Care Centre, Kapikad, Mangalore, and Vijetha Special School, Parappu, Karkala.
This endeavor of “donate cloth drive” held with the outstanding leadership of Koota president Sanath Shetty, well managed by Abdul Razak (Vice President), Chandrahasa Shetty (Sports Secretary), Vijay Wilson (Welfare officer) with the supporting hand of Roshan Quadras (General Secretary), Manoj Shetty (Cultural Secretary), Dinesh Ram (Treasurer), Manoj Rego (PRO), Vanitha Vinod (Joint secretary), Shanker Shetty (Internal Auditor) along with all TKK committee members. Shalini Yadunath Alva efficiently coordinated this initiative by approaching the donors for cloth donation and monetary contribution.
The shipment of around 480 kg of clothes was sent through TVS cargo from Kuwait and reached Suraksha Charitable Trust and Snehadeep timely during this lockdown time and well appreciated by the organizations and benefitted the inmates of these organizations.
Tulukoota Kuwait president, in his message, wholeheartedly thanked all the members for their involvement in making this unique charity drive a success.
