Panaji, May 19: The operations at the super-specialty block of GMC, Bambolim hospital were reviewed by Vishwajit Rane, minister for health. This hospital has 350 patients affected with Covid.
Speaking to the scribes, Rane said, “The infrastructure at the hospital improved considerably. Doctors are giving the best quality medical care to patients. I have come here to visit the patients and listen to their woes.”
Because of a sudden rise in the number of covid infections in the state, most of the patients were shifted to the new block a few days ago. Patients were made to sleep on the floor as beds were not available. They were also made to sit on wheelchairs and trolleys.
Due to the drop in oxygen pressure, many deaths occurred in the hospital between 2 am to 6 am. The hospital administration was taken to task by the public. But the ruling government denied deaths due to oxygen issues. However, the issue was taken care of by installing an oxygen tank with a capacity of 20,000-kilo litres capacity. Last week, when the incident of patients dying between 2 am and 6 occur, Rane had said that he will hold an investigation into the matter.
