Kundapur, Jun 29: Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Tuesday, June 29 visited Kodi Kanyana gram panchayat and held a meeting on various civic issues within the limits of the gram panchayat.
Speaking during the occasion Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "A meeting will be conveyed along with DC, revenue officials, and CRZ officials in regard to issuing the title deeds to the 471 families residing on the seashore in the next week. Out Of 471 title deeds, the matter of 21 title deeds have been resolved and Rs 5,000 have been an exemption for one cent. It will be urged by the government to provide a 10% exemption to other 450 title deeds of various families."
He also directed officials to releases Rs 2 lac through fisheries department officials for the repair of Hangarakate old fishing dock.
The minister also assured to provide transport facility to Kodi Sasthana and Kota and sufficient staff to the health centre in Kodi Kanyana.
In the meeting, the panchayat officials and the general public engaged in heated arguments in front of the minister over the development of the village and problems in the village. The public also questioned how far it is right to collect tax from the people during this pandemic. The officials also threatened to seek information about the development works through RTI.
Opposing this, the panchayat development officer said, "There is no proper revenue to gram panchayat, it is our duty to collect the tax. Moreover, we have not paid our staff since three months." He also said that people with political interests are targeting the officials. Later the minister had to step in to convinc the people and the PDO.
Meanwhile, panchayat president, Prabhakar and RTI Uday engaged in a war of words.
At the meeting, Brahmavar tahsildar, Rajeshkaramurthy, gram panchayat president, Prabhakar, PDO Deni Quadras, and others were present.
