Mangalore: Monti Fest Celebrations in Milagres Parish Begin with Gaiety

Mangalore, Sep 7: A grand procession from Attavar to Milagres Church Hall ushered in the Monti Fest celebrations at Our Lady of Miracles parish here on Tuesday September 7.
Retired Archbishop Ignatius Pinto blessed the procession of Infant Mary at Attavar. A tableau of Infant Mary along with the choir passed through the streets and concluded at Milagres Church Hall where the statue of Mary was lowered and ceremoniously installed at the altar.
The little children of Milagres parish, carrying flowers, and thousands of parishioners participated in the historical procession that has been held here for many decades. Paddy sheaves were also part of the tableau which was led by parish priest Fr William D’Mello, assistant parish priest Fr Thomas Roshan D’Souza, and parish council vice-president Alwyn Rosario.
People along the route of the procession viewed the event with reverence.
Retired Archbishop Pinto offered due honour to Infant Mary at the Milagres Church Hall, and was followed by little children who offered flowers to show their love for their Heavenly Mother.
Jaison Band from Bajpe accompanied the tableau evoking spiritual bliss among the faithful following the procession.
A short procession of Infant Mary will be held from Milagres Church Hall to the main church building on Wednesday September 8 at 8 am followed by Holy Mass to mark the feast of Nativity of Mary.
