Mangalore: Lord Ganesh-Shaped Apple Evoke Curiosity on Chaturthi

Mangalore, Sep 12: On Saturday September 11, Ganesh Chaturthi day, Sudhakar Shenoy found an apple in the shape of Lord Ganesh at B V Lane.

Speaking to Daijiworld, he said that he had got a box full of apples to distribute to the people as ‘prasad’ after completing worship of Lord Ganesh, but he was overjoyed when he found the apple in the shape of the deity .
 


Shenoy has kept the ‘apple Ganesh’ on the silver throne in the prayer room where the apple was also accorded due respect as the clay idol of Lord Ganesh. He was happy that he got the apple on such an auspicious day.

He added that such shapes are common in vegetables like potatoes but in an apple it was unique.

    Since the Ganesh Chaturthi festival started we bought some apples from the market and one of the apple has a form of Lord Ganesh. I always go to Ganapaty Temple but never thought of bringing Lord Ganesh home but this year I brought a small one thinking that it is the message of Lord Ganesh. I placed the apple next to Lord Ganesh and everyday praying and aarti am doing. I believe it is all faith. At time Lord Ganesha wants to visit you rather than it is always devotees going to the Lord. Wish all his devotees a happy and pious Ganesh Chaturthi

    Hinduism is a Sanscrathi, its not a religion. All those who live in India (Hindustan) are Hindus, including, Christians, Muslims & Sikh. This I learnt when I was 10yrs old. I am afraid that Yeddi will ban Apples now like anti cow slaughter bill.

    The comment by ashfaq is a blatant copy-paste from Zakir Naik's website. In Hindu Dharma, there is no God. There is Divinity. And life itself is a manifestation of this Divinity. Hindu Dharma is inherently pluralistic. Which is why people are free to worship the Supreme Transcendent, or its many manifestations, or not worship anyone (or anything). This is completely different from exclusivist ideologies that espouse my-way-or-the-highway ethos. Copying from a bigot like Zakir Naik's website makes one as knowledgeable about Dharma as the pope about quantum physics.

    Even Hindu Scriptures do not allow to worship any creature as mentioned in Bhagavad Gita Ch7:Vr20 "Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures."
    Let us follow the true scriptures and worship none but One God.

    well my friend - well I agree with you but, there is a small difference in what you say. Sanathan Dharm sees God in everything and they pray to god. they see god in your atma and pray you in reverence, they see god in animal and pray in reverence , they see god in food and pray in reverence , they see god in soil and pray in reverence. as age old principle - we have to respect every living being as in every living nd non living being there is god init and we have to treat in reverence. It is a higher degree of spiritualism and it takes a long time for a common human being to be enlightened.

    and you treating everything belongs to god will also finally mean the same.

    The major difference between the Hindu and the Muslim perception of God is the common Hindus’ belief in the philosophy of Pantheism. Pantheism considers everything, living and non-living, to be Divine and Sacred. The common Hindu, therefore, considers everything as God. He considers the trees as God, the sun as God, the moon as God, the monkey as God, the snake as God and even human beings as manifestations of God!

    Islam, on the contrary, exhorts man to consider himself and his surroundings as examples of Divine Creation rather than as divinity itself. Muslims therefore believe that everything is God’s i.e. the word ‘God’ with an apostrophe ‘s’. In other words the Muslims believe that everything belongs to God.

    The trees belong to God, the sun belongs to God, the moon belongs to God, the monkey belongs to God, the snake belongs to God, the human beings belong to God and everything in this universe belongs to God.

    Thus the major difference between the Hindu and the Muslim beliefs is the difference of the apostrophe ‘s’. The Hindu says everything is God. The Muslim says everything is God’s
