Jul 24: Udupi single-day tally drops to 3; DK registers new 269 cases, four deaths

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 24: In one of the lowest single-day tallies so far, Udupi on Saturday July 24 reported just three new coronavirus cases and zero deaths, while Dakshina Kannada reported 269 new cases and four deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, the total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 98,208, out of which 2,105 are currently active.


As many as 239 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 94,711.

The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,392, out of which two are non-Covid deaths.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 99,40,717 as fine in 81,651 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,58,706 samples have been tested so far.

Only three new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 68,777, out of which 749 are currently active.

A total of 101 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 67,619.

Out of the three new patients, two are in home isolation while one is in Covid-designated hospital.

Among the three, two are symptomatic and one asymptomatic.

All three cases were reported from Udupi.

Coronavirus has claimed 409 lives in the district so far. No deaths were reported on Saturday.

So far, 4,92,094 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 169,821 have received the second dose.

A total of 44 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, eight are currently active.

The district nodal officer informed that on an average, about 100 cases are being reported in Udupi district on a daily basis, and if the same trend continues for three weeks, it could be said that Covid has been brought under control.

    Critical to assessing the risk outdoors is the Test Positivity Rate which is missing in this report. Daijiworld please restore this critical information in the report for DK.

    Everywhere cases dropping. But mangalore increasing. If not taking proper precaution, Within a week cases my cross 1000.
