Ayodhya Verdict: Holiday for All Educational Institutions in State on Sept 24 & 25

Bangalore, Sep 22: As part of the precautionary measures against any untoward incidents after the pronouncement of the Allahabad High Court’s verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute on September 24, the Karnataka government has declared a two-day holiday for all educational institutions in the State on September 24 and 25.
Addressing presspersons, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said to ensure safety of students, the government has declared holidays to all government, aided and private schools and colleges on Friday and Saturday.
The government has taken all preventive steps to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
He sought the cooperation of all political leaders and religious heads in maintaining communal harmony, peace and law and order.
The Government has decided to deploy sufficient number of Home Guards and police throughout the state for maintaining peace and order in view of the Court verdict on Friday, he said.
Dr V S Acharya, who was Home and Medical Education Minister at the time of the press conference, said scheduled university examinations, if any, would be held on September 24 and 25 to avoid inconvenience to students.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the large attendance of legislators and party workers during the ceremony held to induct six new ministers at the Raj Bhavan.
He said this had sent a strong message that the party was united.
Dr Acharya said that police and Home Guards were being mobilised for deployment in sensitive areas of Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and other cities of the State.
The police would be assessing the situation in sensitive areas in cities and if necessary promulgate prohibitory orders in such localities.
The district and taluk administration have been directed to hold peace committee meetings involving all sections of the society and seek their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony, Dr Acharya said.
