Bangalore, Sep 22: As part of the precautionary measures against any untoward incidents after the pronouncement of the Allahabad High Court’s verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute on September 24, the Karnataka government has declared a two-day holiday for all educational institutions in the State on September 24 and 25.

Addressing presspersons, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said to ensure safety of students, the government has declared holidays to all government, aided and private schools and colleges on Friday and Saturday.

The government has taken all preventive steps to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.

He sought the cooperation of all political leaders and religious heads in maintaining communal harmony, peace and law and order.

The Government has decided to deploy sufficient number of Home Guards and police throughout the state for maintaining peace and order in view of the Court verdict on Friday, he said.

Dr V S Acharya, who was Home and Medical Education Minister at the time of the press conference, said scheduled university examinations, if any, would be held on September 24 and 25 to avoid inconvenience to students.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the large attendance of legislators and party workers during the ceremony held to induct six new ministers at the Raj Bhavan.

He said this had sent a strong message that the party was united.

Dr Acharya said that police and Home Guards were being mobilised for deployment in sensitive areas of Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and other cities of the State.

The police would be assessing the situation in sensitive areas in cities and if necessary promulgate prohibitory orders in such localities.

The district and taluk administration have been directed to hold peace committee meetings involving all sections of the society and seek their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony, Dr Acharya said.

Most of the comments here is the true reflection of the great culture of our country. Majority of the people want peace and brotherly hood between religions and good gestures between communities will help in uniting our country.

There is already a realization among people that communal hatred is being kept alive by some communal political parties/orgainsations only for their political survival and not with any love for the country. Religion and faith is private matter and has to be kept within oneself and we all should treat every other Indian as our own family member.

    Jai Hind!

Whatever be the verdict, it will be historical. It is a matter of great interest to everyone. I see three options. a) It will be given to the Muslims to build the destroyed mosque. b) Given to the Hindus to built the temple. c) it as a permament disputed area. But like others, I wait with anxiety and hope that the judges will use all their experience and skills to give a fair verdict in the interst of justice to all. It is also a testing time for all the politicians and leaders of Muslims and Hindus to show that indeed they are true leaders. A true leader is one who can control his followers. A bad leader is one who has no control over his followers when they damage private and public property and human lives.

We are a nation of supreme democarcy, unparalled diversity, unmanageable complexity and religious and cultural hub of the world.
If we have ever to hold our future for brighter one we must be able to manage our communal harmony.
Communal hormony can only be achieved by understanding and respect and tolerant behaviour.

As the saying goes "united we stand , devided we fall"
Let us be united in our diversity only to gain in the long run with some tolerable pain.
Jai hind and long live our tolerance to each other or else we all will lose.

Its a great day in the history of India. I sincerely feel, even the verdict goes against muslims, they must respect the law of the land and welcome the decission and greet and congratulate our hindu brothers. There should not be any protest. I feel this is the right time to heal the wounds and make peace and friendship. Muslims should volutarily gift the site to our hindu brothers in the larger interest of peace and our nation. We need to leave behind our differences and bitterness. Let hindus build an grand temple in Ayodhya and let muslims build agrant masjid else where. Babri masjid has been closed for prayers for nearly 70 years. Whats the use of masjid where no prayers have been held? I call upon our muslim brothers to think cooly and gift the site our hindu brothers respecting their sentiments. We want to live in peace with out neighbours. Charity begins at home. Even the verdict goes against muslims we should not protest and should not get provoked. There are lots of anti social elements who are waiting for an opportunity to fish in the troubled waters. We love our hindu brothers. For them its the birth place of Ram. Let them have it. We can have much larger mosque somewhere else and live in peace and harmony with each others. Politicians and clergies, this is the right time to make peace and march forward. Please dont let this opportunity to slip away and such opportunities seldom come. Now is the time to establish peace that lasts long, bring smile n happiness.

Why? C M & H M, it seems the govt., has panicked like in 1979 when solar eclipse took place, a holiday was d by the state govt., then. People no longer are interested in the verdict, may be betting lobby is very active I assume. After 1992 this issue has lost its relevance-let us call it Diminishing Marginal Utility.
